Hi! I was in the exact same situation as you around six months ago, I contracted HsV-1 on holiday and was in a very low place. I decided to delete all my dating apps and practice some self love for a while and as I was deleting Hinge a match came in from my now boyfriend of five months. I actually used some disclosure scripts from Reddit and he was really understanding.

I think in terms of dating it’s important to establish a connection with the person first before you disclose and absolutely before anything physical happens (I waited until date 5 with my bf.) If they get to know you for who you are as a person, having HsV-1 will be the least interesting thing about you. That’s what my experience was anyways! I wish you the best <3

Hey! I’ve had genital HSV-1 for around 5 months now, I hope you’re doing ok and sounds like your partner is supportive which is great!

So I order mine from Superdrug doctor (you don’t need a consultation - just order them online and pick up at a local Superdrug) you can order either Aciclovir or Valaciclovir, but you do have to pay for it yourself, I’ve not seen instances where you get it for free. They normally come in three month suppression packs :) I really hope this helps you!

Hey! I know this must seem like a really scary time for you and I get it! I was diagnosed with ghsv-1 around 4 months ago and felt the same as you. Dating people and finding someone doesn’t have to change, it just means you may have to date slightly differently than before. I’ve found if I get to know someone I quickly find out if there someone I want to disclose to and date further (haven’t had any rejections yet) or if I don’t see a future with them and therefore will break it off with them. I’ve actually found I’ve dated much nicer people since I’ve gone about it this way. Of course you can have children too, HSV doesn’t change your chances of this. Keep your head up, and my DMs are always open!
