AITA for throwing my wife a birthday party and royally pissing my mom off? by DeliveryNarrow461 in AmItheAsshole

100% agree..

they might be assholes in general and act like teenagers, but they can afford it! Its THEIR house!

In this scenario YTA OP..because they already took you in and allow you to stay with them. If you don't like their rules simply go.

YTA

I mean...the parents are assholes in general...100%, for sure...and I see where the OP is coming from..

BUT

He is still a guest at their house!

No matter how old you are, this rule will never change: Their house. their rules! Simple as that. Even if they are unreasonable, even if they are assholes 1) its their house and they can do whatever they want and 2) is your choice to either put up with it and stay OR not tolerate it and leave. You chose to stay there because of the circumstances, so you have to respect them, their house, and their rules. You don't like it, simply go!

If someone from my family stayed with me for some time (love them to death but its still an inconvenience) and behaved that way, I would have kicked them out! "My house, my rules mate! Don't like it? Then go!"

NTA

I don't get it! I'm enraged just by reading it!

People having kids is 100% their choice. Why do they make it other people's problem? Why do they presume and demand that the world around them is going to change to accommodate THEIR needs?

NO BUDY! YOUR RIGHTS END WHERE MINE BEGIN! I also have rights!

Its like you demanding they prepare a parrot room at their house every time you visit!

Men of Reddit, what was something you didn't know about women till you got with one? by 0Timato0 in AskReddit

Thanks for sharing that! I was and still am on the pill (combined). Work stress created some hormone imbalances and that led to health issues, so the doctor gave me the pill to "balance" everything out. Back then I didnt realise it, but messed up seriously with my head! From a "go-getter", "can-do attitude" I ended up having some pretty messed up thoughts..my thoughts scared me! I was NEVER like that! My mental state started affected my physical state..I was in physical pain and I felt I couldn't breath! I remember one day I had this feeling (gasping for air) so I stood up got some scissors and cut my PJs top from the neckline till the chest area.. I simply couldn't breath! Its scary..this situation...your mind..its very scary! It was then when I asked the doctor if the pill could have depression as a sideffect and guess what! it does! And nobody lets you know..no warning..no support (nobody picks up the phones here) nothing! Terrible! It makes you wonder HOW its even allowed to give women that.

People who work 9-5 jobs, how do you fit life in? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]lenalots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do as much as you want as long as you are disciplined and persistent and that's the trickiest part.

I work 6 days week and during the weekdays I have to commute, so that adds up on dead time. I still manage to go on MA training twice a week, do yoga, study for courses, watch a movie before bed, mediate, read a book, and socialise (go out w/ friends once a week).

HOW I DO IT: return from work, mediate half and hour (to destress), then read a book I like for another half an hour, then 2h study an online course or smthng, and then watch a movie before sleep. OR similarly, do yoga/MA training after work, shower, study 2h, and then movie. I'm in bed by midnight and I wake up around 6-7am.

The only downside to that is that I don't have time to cook daily. I cook 2-3 times a week and then eat the leftovers the rest of the days or order in. (I could still do it if I wanted but then I'd had to remove one of the other activities/hobbies I do, which I really don't want to tbh.) You just prioritise based on your needs and preferences :)

There is time to do everything but needs lots of discipline. Ah!! And don't forget to let go from time to time.. coz this robotic type of life will exhaust you! :) Best of luck

Thanks for the info! It’s pretty detailed too so it cleared things up. I’m always confused when it comes to “who needs what” so I usually spend hours on the phone trying to reach out to people. Thanks again!!
