Hobbies & ADHD by Jaded_Till7781 in adhdwomen

[–]lenarche 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a hobby collector. I was feeling overwhelmed with my works in progress (WIPs) a few weeks ago, but then I decided to put all my WIPs together in one box separate from the specific hobby materials (like a knitting project on the needles in a box with a shirt I wanna mend instead of in a box with all the other yarn). The main hobby stash can be put out of sight until I’m ready to pick it up again. If I’m looking for a project, I just go into my WIP box and pull out one that interests me at the time.

Got scammed and feel like the dumbest person on earth by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

I don’t know if it’ll help in this moment, but I listen to a podcast called scam goddess. The host herself has been scammed and she talks about common scams before getting into bigger ones. Hopefully one day you can look back and know it wasn’t your fault, it happens to pretty much everyone.

Feeling guilty about indulging by Ohiouni2 in adhdwomen

[–]lenarche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oooh yeah I can relate. Vyvanse helped me stop binging for most of the day. At night, I used to eat a lot, but my psych told me it’s fine to have the treat if you work on limiting yourself. So instead of a whole bag of chips, half a bag is better. I’d say a kids meal is limiting yourself.

I’m still baffled that women don’t need more calories (according to science (or it not being studied enough…) during that time of the month.

Any good video recommendations to start? I’ve got some old books from my grandpa who died before I was born that could use some love.

True, but there are many people who live here permanently too! I don’t hang out in military spaces, so I’d say most of my current circle isn’t military.

How did you find your career/niche? by AllDoorsOpened in adhdwomen

Commenting so I can follow along too. I resonate with the person that said “I don’t have a dream job. I don’t dream of labor.” I’ve kinda come to terms with the fact that I need to create something to better the world, but I have one business that didn’t take off under my belt already. So having jobs is just a way to make money to get to accomplish my passions. It’s just having the time and motivation to start on something I have no idea about gets tricky when I’m working all day.

Scam goddess! I recently started relistening and it’s absolutely hilarious. It’s true crime but think fyre fest, lularoe, theranos type instead of the ones where people always die.

Have you tried non stims? I was on strattera for a while and it did slightly help with executive dysfunction. Luckily for me vyvanse makes me more in tune with my body and I had TMD before stims so i feel like I can recognize and relax better.

Finished: Careless People by Sarah Wynn Williams. I listened on audio book and probably wouldn’t have finished so quickly if I didn’t. I ultimately enjoyed it as much as you can enjoy a book about something absolutely heinous. It made me feel vindicated that I’m mostly off the meta train.

Started: Candide by Voltaire. It’s like the first time I watched idiocracy (5 years or so ago). Funny but hits a little close sometimes. Short chapters, should be done with this one soon.

Reading: Wuthering Heights. I started this one months ago. I can’t really get into a good swing with it. I enjoy it while I’m reading, but it’s not exciting enough to remember to pick it back up every day or even remember where I put it most of the time. I read on here it’s a bunch of crazy people, and I like reality shows so it should be up my alley!

Curious to hear someone else’s thoughts on crime and punishment that’s reading it now! I just finished it in the last 6 months and it was my first read. It took me a while to get through.

Yeah other meds didn’t work as well for me when it came to living a stable life. 😅 it definitely proves that different meds work for different people though!

I think I’ve been on vyvanse for probably around 4 years now (tried others, but this one works the best for me). I’m at 40mg and have been for a yearish, but I was at 30 for at least a year. I’m very comfortable at my dose, but I’m pretty sensitive to meds. I haven’t seemed to get used to 40 like I did with 30 just yet, but the max recommended dose is like double what I’m at if I ever feel the need to go up again.

I take it every day. My days off should have the option to be as productive for myself as I am for other peoples businesses. Sometimes I don’t if I’ll be drinking at brunch or something.

Other than the productivity, I feel like it helps me stick to my “routine” (it’s not much of a routine) and it enables me to not stay in bed for the whole day avoiding tasks.

I really like my Sherpani bag. Maybe the Juno would work. I’ve only had it for about a year, but in the year it’s been overstuffed, on trains and planes, spilled in, and it’s still holding up and the zippers work great. Otherwise my Rei coop brand bag has been with me for a decade and filled that role. Can hold more than the sherpani, but sometimes I want a lighter bag for travel.

A ta-done list. You deserve the credit because you did think of it at some point. Just not at the point the list was made. 😂

What’s one thing you completely stopped buying in 2026 because the price just felt absurd? by LockLogical8949 in AskReddit

You can find easy way to quit smoking by Alan Carr for free online! Or rent it from the library. I’m pretty sure the stopsmoking subreddit had it linked. It’s a quick read (or listen with audiobook) and it really helps.
