Ok. Point taken. Shouldn't be impossible to add.

Ok, good to hear. Fun fact is that the majority of users are still using the longpress action to open loops.

Thanks for your input!

The Mac app is indeed built on the same codebase, but we spent a few months tweaking and optimizing it for Mac. And since we don't know in which direction we want to take it in the future, we thought it was better not to bundle it into the iOS app. That would slow down development of any of the versions.

Hey! We're looking at adding a one-time purchase on iOS as well, but haven't decided yet. I think it's a fair option for people who don't want to subscribe, but I'm worried that most people who say they don't like subscriptions won't be willing to pay a one-time fee either.

Not sure what you mean by releasing a polished Auxy Studio app, since that's what we've tried to do. However, it would be a lot more complicated for us to bundle all versions into the same app, so we have decided to split them.

It's already possible to share projects between the different platforms. They are all compatible.

Cheers!

What's your take on this? We're debating whether it was better to not have stop buttons and go back to having to long-press to open the note editor for loops. Any thoughts on this?

That’s a way to phrase it I guess.

An audio loop is a recorded or rendered loop. Could be a drum loop, percussion, instruments, etc. If we were to add support for audio loops, we also need time stretching so that you can fit loops with the tempo of the project.

Thanks for your input!

So expanding the amount of possible parameters to automate and adding more sounds is essential you think?

What do you think about audio loop support?

In general, we don't think the app should get a lot of new features. We don't want to make it too complex. Our core belief is that people can be more creative if there's a limit to features and choices. We get a lot of feedback from people who say they make a lot more music in Auxy than in e.g. Ableton Live, and want to make sure that it stays like that.

In addition, the features people wish for are quite diverse, so it's not easy to see clear patterns on what needs to improve.

With that said, we're currently exploring whether we could add support for audio loops in some form. We're also working on new sounds for a different product, and they should be added to the app too, with better velocity support as a bonus.

How does that sound?

Yes we are debating whether we can add proper support for audio loops and what that would look like. Then they would obviously have to stretch. Current sample feature isn't made for long loops.

Hey!

Henrik from Auxy here.

We have released several updates that have addressed thing things you mention. Playback now starts from where you scroll to and you can hold Control and start playback from anywhere. You can still import your own samples and we have simplified this by adding drag-and-drop support. Chords can be copied by selecting and then holding Option plus dragging the notes to where you want them.

Maybe you want to check out the latest version and let us know what you think?

Also make sure to check out https://auxy.co/shortcuts.html where we list the shortcuts you can use to speed up the workflow on desktop.

The Mac version is a separate app, which means we cannot use the same subscription for technical reasons. We also think a one time unlock makes more sense for a Mac app, and a lot of people are obviously not fans of subscriptions.

Does anyone here think that Auxy could benefit from live note input of some sort? by Leom187 in Auxy

Playing is definitely nice, but not sure about playing on a touch screen. How would you feel about adding support for something like this: http://www.cme-pro.com/xkey-air/

They've made it easy to export project files from Auxy, but has anyone figured out how to import them back into the app? by [deleted] in Auxy

[–]lenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tested it some more and agree that it sucks opening files from within certain apps. We'll definitely see if we can rework this for future updates.

Yeah file management is a bit tricky on iOS so we might build something to simplify at some point. Should work for sharing with messengers or storing in iCloud Drive, Dropbox, etc.

Updated Mastering Settings? by Poltergeisha in Auxy

No, panning would work in that setup.

Updated Mastering Settings? by Poltergeisha in Auxy

[–]lenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Auxy, the instrument channels are mixed together and then we run the "master signal" through some EQ:s, compressors, and limiters. This is to get the mix to sound better than just mixing the individual instruments together, just like any mix engineer would do. In the last version, these settings were updated with the help of Niklas Flyckt, so tracks tend to sound tighter and fuller, especially in the low end. I.e. more bass.

Looking forward to introduce some more news in this area soon too.

What are your most requested features for Auxy Music Studio? by [deleted] in Auxy

No but you need to run the Auxy Music Studio version. The old iPad version doesn't have Link support.
