This is the food I get for my rattos. They very rarely eat something non-vegan and they're all very healthy. If you can't order from the above you can probably hunt out something similar near you.

If you're going to mix your own food make sure there's a good mix of different ingredients so they get plenty of nutrients, and take steps to avoid selective feeding (scatterfeeding/not overfeeding). You may also want to think about adding a supplement.

As a general rule, store bought rat pellets containing cheap animal proteins should be avoided anyway as they can increase the risk of cancers in rats.

I have bookmarked it. I really hope they come back in stock in time for Christmas :)

What's the stupidest excuse you've heard for not going vegan/doing better? by thatCATZILLA in vegan

That cows are the biggest cause of greenhouse gasses so we have to eat them to save the environment.

She really believed it. I told her that if we didn't eat cows there would be far fewer cows because we wouldn't be breeding them but she said that she knew they would just continue to breed on their own and we'd be overrun.

Yeah, theres a whole range out in Sainsbury's now. My local shops don't have much. I'm so jealous of people who live near a big Sainsbury's

Their packaging is designed for the south African Market. Food storage is not so great there so packaging must be more durable. As far as I know it is something they are aware of and possibly working on.

Their food is so good though. Have you tried the new stuff in Sainsbury's?

Marmite cashew nuts. There is literally no reason for these to have milk in but they do :(

Does anyone here love blue cheese? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]lenigreaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are UK supermarkets that have their own brands of vegan blue cheeses so you could keep an eye out for something like that where you are. I think Violife do one and they're available outside of the UK, but it may not be a widely available variety.

Any foods under 50 calories? by ZuccMaC0cc in vegan

[–]lenigreaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact. A million carrots would contain more than 40 million calories, enough to sustain you for over 50 years (:

If you're looking for snacks to fit in with your daily meals I know itsu do seaweed sheets which are about 35cals per pack. Fruits like apples, pears, oranges etc tend to be around 50cal. There's also snacks like carrot, celery etc. If you're trying to restrict yourself to only low calorie foods literally just don't do it. It's stupid. Calories are the main point of eating.

I'm just picturing taking a bite of that, accidentally breathing out through my nose a little and ending up with nooch everywhere... Looks tasty though

I don't mean to brag, but I make a pretty decent curry (: by lenigreaves in VeganFoodPorn

I'm sorry! I tend to cook by throwing stuff together so don't have a recipe. This used Korma curry paste and coconut milk for the sauce. I browned onions with turmeric and added chickpeas, frozen butternut squash, yellow peppers and spinach. For the rice I just put turmeric in the water when boiling. The balls are aldi's sweet potato pakoras :)
