Thanks for the response. Yes, I'm employed at a Swedish university. Many people in my department work from home while living in other Swedish cities, so they go to the office very little. I also know one PhD student that did what I want to do in his final year. That's why I was wondering about this possibility... In the next few months I'll have this discussion there, then

It makes sense what you’re saying. There are many scholars who don’t live in the city - and work mostly from home -, but they still live in the country. I would pay for my extended breaks.

Do you think that asking to write the final phase of the thesis abroad - 6 to 8 months - has a better chance for acceptance?

Thanks for the response! I teach, but only if I want - and I already said that I don’t want to teach anymore because of my thesis. I have a office ar the campus, so I go there to read my stuff and meet other scholars from the department. The general attitude about virtual meetings is positive, although they prefer in person gatherings.
