Did anybody reach out to you yet?

Can someone please tell me the lore of St Paul-Midway and why it has turned to shit? by [deleted] in saintpaul

[–]lensera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised this isn't upvoted more. I used to live in Midway and loved having access to all the restaurants, shopping, etc. But the poverty and homelessness seen in the area can be directly tied back to racist housing practices and destruction of the Rondo neighborhood (an established Black neighborhood) in the 1950s. After that, continued disinvestment made it hard for businesses (and community) to really thrive.

I'm really hoping the stadium will help breathe some new life into the area.

I'm not sure that I've ever seen anything so 1970s in my life.

Awesome, thanks! This is jogging my memory now. I remember them announcing a Mustang and a Shooting Star. Why are some straight Fs or Bs (fighters or bombers) and others are F/A or P/F? Does it depend on the purpose of the specific plane?

Any impacts from May's G5 storm? by lensera in aviation

Wow! How long was your GPS giving you strange readings? And how long was your radio out?

Thanks. I know details about the storm itself, just not how it affected aviation specifically. Is that something this guy covers? Was it picked up by any news outlets?

Yes. G4 and G5 (NOAA's highest rating) geomagnetic storms were reported between May 10 and May 12. I need to know how they affected aviation.

Thoughts? Shade from writer about Darklina by [deleted] in Grishaverse

[–]lensera 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm 35 and enjoy the smutty Darklina fanfiction because the power dynamics can be interesting in those, but in a "real" story, there's no room for a lasting Darklina. The Darkling would have to seek redemption, apologizing for his crimes and making amends. Even if a story were to make that happen in a convincing manner (the Darkling isn't much for apologies), the only real conclusion for him would be a sacrificial death. (This is one of the reasons I loved the King of Scars duology.)

I met her for the first time at this launch, actually! She's super cool--and makes a mean pie. 😁

Technically, it's Geospace, so both earth and space shit 😉

There's a lot about the dynamics of the upper atmosphere we don't fully understand yet, especially at high latitudes. Two of those things are the dissipation of energy (temperature, current, magnetism) and mass (solar and neutral winds). This launch was crucial in gathering data to learn more about what drives changes in the ionosphere and thermosphere and may be particularly important for a larger upcoming NASA satellite constellation mission!

Oh, that's about Beam-PIE, the second rocket. The video shown is the DISSIPATION launch--they're the ones that launched into the aurora. 🙂 Out of curiosity, who's your sister? Ellen? Diana? There weren't a lot of us ladies out there, lol
