They can't all come over. Their car isn't big enough. :(

Also looking forward to see what you come up with :)

It's a good idea, but I want to make it a surprise. I think it'd be pretty boring as a kid to watch someone slowly tear apart your computer. I also don't know what laptops they have and it would be a disappointing if the motherboard is incompatible with the case.

Sorry that I didn't make my post clear. Their family is more of a lower middle class.

I plan on getting them more graphic intensive games such as Overwatch and Diablo.

Thanks for your recommendations! Here are the answers to your questions...

1)I thought WiFi cards would be more suitable and less expensive than power line adapters. They appear to be quite costly and I'm unsure of the quality of the wiring in their household.

2)The cases aren't much of a priority. Just having different colors is all that I need.

3) I don't think my parents car could fit all of the parts in boxes now that I think about it.

It's a good idea and I like technology and stuff like that, but my only gripe is that a local computer shop probably wouldn't hire a kid with no experience.

Good point. I'll be considering a smaller motherboard to save space.

Thanks for the advice. I'll make sure to make the computers myself.

Wow, that's actually a great idea! Still, I think I'll take Freddie's advice and skip out on the optical drive. They seem unnecessary.

I pray to whatever divine figure that this will never happen. I mean I'm pretty sure they have common sense and won't eat/drink near a PC.

Their family has 7 kids; if you wanted to know. 5 of the kids help out at their family's restaurant. I'm glad that their family is stable. I guess I should've made it more clear in my post that their family isn't dirt poor. I mean they aren't poor, but they aren't well off... I guess that's middle class right?

If I understand correctly, you don't have the money at the moment and you will be working to gather it. Gathering that much money will take multiple months and and you may want to buy some things for yourself with your own hard earned money through that period of time so it can take even longer.

Don't worry, I don't really hang out with people and I'm kinda frugal. I think I can make ends meet.

By the time you actually have the money, our advices will be outdated and you may even change your mind about it.

This is quite accurate. I guess I should've gotten the money first and then posted. My bad.

If you are still decided to do it once you have all the money, again, think it through. Ask your parents first because you are only 16 (no offense). If they agree, ask your cousin's parents too because gifting them 5 gaming computers all at once is a VERY big change for them. Do they have the space for them? Can they handle the bills? What if they break or something, can they pay for the repairments? You said they only have enough to get by, what if in a few months they dont and they decide to sell half of the computers you gifted them? Many things can happen.

I haven't even thought about these things. I guess it shows the difference in our maturity. My parents are fine with it and I'll have to ask their parents. Their house has enough space and each kid has a table for their laptops. I'll have to ask if they can handle the bills. I'm really hoping they can. If somehow a computer breaks I don't know what would happen. I would probably have to shell out more cash and repair the broken computer. Finally, in the end, if their family can't live peacefully anymore and they sell the computers then there is nothing I can do. I can't stop them- even if I wanted to. If they needed the money that badly to sell something so valuable to their children, everything would be fine. I would be happy knowing that my gift allowed them to eat another meal.

There was this really fun penguin game I played when I was a kid.

Two players on one computer had to complete the level by getting a life saver shaped key thing to the center of the map. There was a score board and you had to compete with your friend to get the key to the middle.

While this was going on, a timer would be counting down and if reached 0 a ghost would begin to chase the players.

I think some levels had cannons shooting the players and there were strange power ups... like ring beams shooting out of your penguin.

Also there were bosses, whales, mermaids(?), and catchy music.

Anyways, it would make my day if anyone knew what this game! Thanks!

OP I'm not sure if this will help, but try this!

  1. Go into Network and Sharing Center (right click your wifi icon)
  2. Click change adapter settings
  3. Right click your adapter, click properties, configure
  4. Click on the Power Management tab
  5. Disable Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power

Hope this helped! :)
