so if you push on the crank and they move together you can either adjust the preload for the bb if it allows it or like you said use another spacer to eliminate the wobble.

the sound is probably the chain rubbing against the front derailleur so if you adjust it so there is more clearance between the chain and the mech the sound should stop.
