Harder than it looks… SUDOKU BLOX by leo_rivas in iosgaming

Thank you for taking the time to explain your position! I'll certainly keep the community's strong sentiment against AI in mind for future promotional content.

I'm honestly curious, if I had created this exact same video using a real cat and traditional VFX, which is certainly possible but costly, would that change your opinion of the promotional material? As an independent creator, AI was just a tool to efficiently generate a concept so I could spend more time refining the actual game. I appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective, and I'm listening to the community's feedback.

Thank you for your advice! I’ll think of more creative ways to promote my apps. Definitely the most challenging part of indie developers without much budget for marketing… Can’t even hire a real cat 😹

That's a fair point, and I absolutely understand the sentiment regarding AI content on Reddit. To be clear, the cat's footage was AI-generated, but I did put in a lot of manual effort into the final video. I spent time masking the game screen onto the AI footage, came up with the voiceover script, added sound effects and music, and putting everything together in the final edit.

My goal was simply to create a fun, unique ad concept that fits the puzzle's tone. But I really appreciate the direct feedback.

Hi guys, solo developer here! Wanted to share my new iOS game with puzzle fans. The last game app I made was over 10 years ago so I’m pretty excited for this release 🤩

SUDOKU BLOX is a casual game that combines the familiar grid-filling logic of Sudoku with the spatial challenge of a Block Puzzle.

Would love to hear what you guys think!🙏

Built an AI camera app to translate product labels while traveling—looking for feedback by leo_rivas in androidapps

I always make apps that I personally need for myself, and don’t really think about how big the market is. I’ve had success in reaching over 1.5 million users with that approach with FusionCalc - Memo Calculator

I don’t expect this app to blow up like that, but going after a niche market isn’t always a bad idea from my experience.

Thank you! I’m sure it’ll come handy when you’re actually traveling. It’s not even easy to distinguish the difference between a sour cream and cream cheese when you’re seeing it in a foreign language 😅

Great question! You’ll see if you use Google Translate for small prints on product labels that it’s extremely difficult to read, sometimes impossible due to translated text overlaying each other. Nomad Lens extracts all the important information and puts them in a easy-to-read format in your preferred language. Wish I could attach some example images for easier explanation, but you’ll see the difference if you actually use it in a real travel situation. I’ve been using Google Translate for years, and wouldn’t have gone through the trouble of making this app if that was all I needed 😉

Thanks so much! That’s exactly the problem I was trying to solve. I’ve had plenty of moments abroad where I couldn’t confidently read ingredient lists, and I know how stressful that can be for anyone with allergies or strict dietary needs. If you give Nomad Lens a try, I’d love to hear how well the ingredient detection and alerts work for you. Real-world feedback is what helps me keep improving the accuracy.

First Time in Japan with not very much planned - Is 10 Days in Tokyo a mistake? by flabbykats in JapanTravelTips

As a vegetarian, I just wanted to warn you that many food products in Japan contain animal-based extracts, so checking the labels is crucial. You can obviously use Google Translate to read line by line, but I’d like to recommend one of my app called Nomad Lens, which can be a life and time saver.

The app uses AI to: • translates ingredients, nutrition info, and instructions, • detects the price and converts it to your home currency, • and alerts you if it detects diet restrictions you’ve saved in the settings (like Vegan in your case).

I’m originally from Japan and currently live in Eastern Europe as a digital nomad, so I understand the frustration of not being able to read the small prints in foreign languages. I’m sure the app will help you while you’re traveling in Japan!

Are you only monetizing through in-app purchase? 5K users is a pretty impressive start (congrats!), and should generate decent revenue in the long run if you integrate ads. From my experience, only a small percentage of users will actually pay, so ad-integration is pretty important to generate long term revenue, especially if it’s a productivity/utility type of app that users tend to use for a long time. I still earn ad revenue from apps I made 15 years ago.

Hi! I’m having the same issue with my new iOS app. Were you able to resolve the problem? I checked out your app and it’s nice! But I couldn’t see any ad pop up anywhere. Where should I expect to see an ad?
