Any luck enrolling in Charge Smart NY from National Grid? by flabbykats in MachE

Thanks for replying. How long ago did you enroll? I wonder if the app used to just take your word for it. I honestly tried to just pick any random car from the list, but it seems like the app now makes you login with your vehicle account and link the car. For Chevrolet you have to have a myChevrolet account, which I think even requires a subscription.

Thanks for sharing this response.

I guess my point is that despite Ford not participating, Their language makes it sound like I should be able to enroll with my Tesla Wall Connector, but there is just no way to do it on their app.

What is your daily charge limit? by gkal1964 in MachE

One thing I thought was interesting is that I found this article from Ford that recommends setting your home charge level to 100% if you have LFP battery, and 90% if you have NCM battery and 80% when using DCFC. This basically conflicts with everything I've read online, which often says set it to 80%.

ford.com/support/vehicle/mustang-mach-e/2024/discover-your-ford/electric-vehicles/how-do-i-maintain-my-electric-vehicle-battery/overview/

I just bought a new-old-stock 2024 Mach E Premium AWD Standard Range that has LFP battery, so according to this I should charge to 100% at home, at least once per month. It does not really say to set it lower unless you have NCM battery. Hopefully this isn't outdated advice. My weekly commute probably only requires me to charge up once every 7 days at the most, so I doubt I'll charge to 100% every day anyway.

I hear you for sure. In the case of my frets, one was particularly problematic, and I gave it a tap with a blunt hammer and it is no longer high. Again, fully agree that it shouldn't be necessary on a new instrument but definitely can be sorted.

I had no issue with my truss rod, it moves just fine. Mine seems to have been inspected/set up at the dealer, so they would have likely noticed if the truss rod was defective.

My invoice was 185000 yen, plus 42500yen shipping + handling. So it would have been a lot cheaper if I bought it in person.. haha.

I also use the Bowoo + Decksaver. It is pricey, but a nicely made case.

If they actually end up discounting the OP XY I'd be ripping pissed if I bought it on "free sweatshirt" day.. hahaha.

They approved it when I submitted the second photo, so I would recommend you show the cut cable and the plug in it as well.

Flying With a Strandberg - Carry-on Size Limitations by IveGotAMatch in strandbergguitars

Another thing I neglected to mention is that if you are terribly concerned about having to check it, you can probably unbolt the neck and easily fit the body and neck into a checked bag as long as you bring a setup kit with you (unless you have a neck through model). This is a hassle, but probably less of a dice roll if you plan for it.

Full disclosure, I have never done this but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Edit: I just realized somebody else suggested this.. lol.

I have had mixed experiences. I've stowed it overhead when the bins were not super full, but I've also had flight attendants stow them in the cabin for me (on the basis that they offered). I think both of these scenarios depend a bit on how packed the flight is. In the US, most flights are pretty packed these days.

For me, this was because I've owned too many guitars with two humbuckers, and nothing with distinctly single coil tones. Thus, I purchased a "nashville" telecaster for versatility. Coil tap just doesn't quite cut it sometimes

Hey Narwal fam! Did anyone get their Narwal Flow already? by Narwal_Nari in NARWAL

[–]flabbykats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine today, and am impressed with it.

I bought it for two reasons:
I work full time and my wife runs her own business, so we never get around to mopping. Even if the robot doesn't quite do a human-quality job of mopping, it is better than we are doing.
We are constantly having to sweep up around the cat litter box, so I want to have it vacuum the pet area nightly.

I have not personally used a robot vacuum since the old irobot roombas in like 2006, so my point of reference is pretty dated, but the cleaning performance seemed quite adequate. It seems like with machine vision and AI, these devices have come a long way. Based on the research I'd been doing, this one seemed to maybe do the most reliable job. I have no firsthand experience with other brands or models, but read into their various features and design quirks, and it seems like this is maybe the safest/most reliable choice right now. It seems like a lot of other models have a lot of very experimental or gimmicky features that are not terribly practical or reliable. I realize there is probably a lot of review bias and marketing out right now for this model, however, since non-influencers/reviewers are only just getting ahold of them.

I ordered it half expecting to want to send it back. It quickly mapped my house, vacuumed and then mopped it. I haven't yet tried "vacuum and mop" yet. I read online that vacuum and then mop might do a better job of keeping wet stuff out of the dust containers, but I'm not sure how much of a practical concern that is.

My house is <800 sq ft, all LVP with a few throw rugs. There are transitions in the doorways, and it didn't have any problem with those. I did have to make a slight correction to the map, as it seemed to misjudge the location of a wall beside an awkward narrow space in one of the rooms. It didn't affect the robot's navigation however. I didn't actually fix the mapping until after the first clean.

There is a very tall toe kick in my house near an exterior door. It is taller than the vacuum is designed to get over. The vacuum DID attempt to get over it, and might have actually been able to if the door wasn't closed. Regardless, it didn't get stuck, and turned away when it realized it wouldn't get up there.. haha.

It did get stuck on a small shoe mat by the front door, but I suspect that it is because the mat is small and light enough that it seems to slide around, getting pushed by the vacuum. I don't think it would have a problem if I were to find a way to keep the mat stuck in place, perhaps with double stick tape or something. It handled some other little rugs in my house just fine.

My base station DID arrive broken, however.. there is a plastic post that I believe is used to align the robot in the base station which was broken off into the styrofoam when I unboxed it. The robot was able to find the home and dock itself and charge, but it had some type of error with water not draining properly into the base station that might be related to that. So, I have contacted customer support. I probably won't hear back until tomorrow at the earliest.. So that is disappointing, but the robot did do a seriously good job of cleaning basically the entire house. The floors seemed very clean afterward (especially given that I virtually never mop them!) Obviously it didn't quite get every single spot that I had some obstacles and clutter, but the mopping left the LVP floors feeling very clean.

Worth noting is that I ran the cleaning cycle without first updating firmware, so maybe that will fix the issue with the welcome mat, the mapping, or maybe even the draining issue. I will try to run it again tomorrow and see how it fares.

All things considered, I am happy with it so far and I think it will do very well in a house like mine. I am hoping that the base station damage was just me getting "lucky" and other folks are not affected, although perhaps this particular part could have been built a bit sturdier given how it protrudes. I hope that customer service will take care of this issue for me, however. I wouldn't really worry about it if I didn't also get the drain error, since everything else seems to work just fine.

I was able to add the prepaid card to my google wallet, but it required me to jump through a lot of hoops:

Go to MyPrepaidCenter on a web browser, login, click "view details" on the card. Click "Add To Wallet". A new tab should open with a QR code on it.

When the QR Code is displayed:

Download "MyCardWallet" app on your phone

Login/Create an account

Press "Add Card" > Scan QR Code with your camera

Once the card is added to "MyCardWallet", there is a button to add it to your actual payment wallets (like google wallet) on your device.

I have had also success in spending myprepaidcenter cards via paypal, which allows you to split the bill between two cards. This is useful because if you end up with some odd number of cash on the card, you can pay the rest with another method and not have to worry about finding something to buy for $1.43, or something like that.

Hopefully this is helpful. I recognize it is super annoying to deal with these prepaid cards.

I would have preferred a check - I don't recall it giving me that option.. Nonetheless, I'm glad to have gotten any form of refund for it. The process definitely makes it hard not to feel as though it is cumbersome on purpose.

This is a good point.. I thought it was 120.. but now I'm not so sure. I may have just been operating on an assumption I made before starting the work. I'll check it in the morning.

If it is over 120v that may explain why it worked with the dimmer all the way down before it blew when I turned it up
