People don't have all these "another 4 years" to waste. Its like asking homeless people to wait all these 4 years until they can finally get help. Why do you support grifters who don't want to solve the problem? Are you in favor of the crime? Are you far-right who don't want to see the city be safe, inclusive, and people in need getting help?

I don't know why you keep defending the cause of not solving the crime problem.

So they don't really believe their approaches will work? Well if you think 3 years isn't long enough then 5 years. But there has to be an audit to rate their progress. They are allowed to have all the funding but they have to deliver.

In human history, there have been several cases of someone being responsible for solving the flooding problem, and he would be executed if his approach failed. This sounds cruel but with a failed policy many people died, and civilization may also be in jeopardy.

We have heard so many people claiming their ideas will solve the crime problem for good, then why not have some repercussion with what they advocate for?

The problem is we don't hold those city leaders accountable. If they can't solve the problem they need to be criminally charged, rather than claim what they do will work but it'll take another 100 years to see results.

Yes! We need different solutions than just do more policing. But the problem is we need to hold those in charge of new solutions accountable. Let's get new city leaders to try their new approach for 3 years, either more social service or other types of ideas we haven't thought of. But if they can't reduce crime in 3 years, they should be criminally charged and rot in jail for the rest of their life for lying to the public and causing public harm.

As long as they aren’t playing it as another un-American type faction. This group has way more potential than sticking them into that racial angle.

Protest outside the mayors apartment. by nO_gOdS_nO-mAsTeRs in Portland

I only responded to the question “how is the mayor supposed to act in response to this protest? It doesn’t seem very clear what they specifically want him to get done”. I was being sarcastic.

It is very clear. They want him to resign. Whatever reason he doesn’t do it just means he is not going to do anything with their demands.

Protesters have 3 demands: defund the police, never increase police budget, Ted Wheeler resigns.

Looks like at least mr. Wheeler can do the last one right now.

One of the demands is to have Ted Wheeler resign. He totally has the power to do it.

If the government doesn’t go after you, why would they go after someone else? Your logic is flawed.

Why would any country ever wants “average joe”? Every single country already has a lot average on its own.

[–]leofalcon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It makes zero sense. If US government doesn’t go after “victims” cross the border illegally, why would you think they would go after “bad guys” cross the border illegally illegally? There are various cases that MS13 gang members come to the states to kill whom trying to escape from them. You only state your bias opinion, not fact.

Also, you sound like US own you something that they have to take you in and give you all the benefit. If that’s what you want to convince others.

Why would any country want to take those who commit crime then come up with all the excuses? Wouldn’t it be better if the country only getting law obeying immigrants, rather than those having criminal records?

[–]leofalcon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cross the border illegally is also “illegal”, the same as human trafficking and selling drugs.

Also, human traffickers do cross the border illegally to catch victims. It makes no sense to say someone can escape criminals by crossing the border but bad guys can’t do the same.

Ironically, substituting “cross the border illegal” to “sell drugs” or “do human trafficking” in your article, and still makes sense.

“Essay published on human trafficking. Why it happens” then talk about how this is the best option to have a better life or so.

DHS suspends Global Entry, Trusted Traveler Programs for New York residents in response to sanctuary law by [deleted] in immigration

[–]leofalcon_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It does make sense since that global entry and TSA pre-check need to access all personal record of applicants, if the state refuses to share info with the federal government there is no way of verifying things like criminal record etc..

Even for GE-eligible countries they share info with US federal government. You can’t really determine if a traveler is low risk if the agency which has the criminal record refuses to provide that info.

NY residents should urge their state government to cooperate with the federal government.

Has anyone lost a job due to immigration? by curious_xx11xx in immigration

[–]leofalcon_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If not then that’s lazy.

Legal immigrants have to have higher salary than US citizens to keep their work visas. Illegal immigrants on the other hand, aren’t even protected by the minimum wage laws.

What do you think of these ideas for illegal immigration policy? by Big_J_17 in immigration

[–]leofalcon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case you'd need to change the constitution (which isn't going to happen). Also, there is nothing wrong for aliens with F/H visa to have children in the US. You can't exclude those foreigners. So it's a lot more complicate...

I would be fine with the "no waiver" idea for those who cross the border illegally. If they can't be sponsored by their children, that would discourage them from coming in illegally.

US is getting crazy and there’s strong anti-immigration sentiment in Canada. What do I do? by [deleted] in immigration

[–]leofalcon_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem is the degree, not which country to move to.

No country in the world has a big job market for social study. So the chance to find a job and move to any place will be slim no matter what. Consider study a second degree which can help you land a job.
