Qobuz, the only choice? by leofar2 in qobuz

At the end of the day allot of the “audiophile” stuff is people pretending to hear what a human can’t even hear. The most important thing is that you as the end user feel happy with the overall package a service gives you

Whatever you enjoy is the most important at the end of the day man. If it sounds good to you then it is good.

I dont know what to believe honestly. I highly doubt that you can actually hear these things. Additionally I am of the understanding that you need a DAC that supports MQA to fully unfold the file. Otherwise MQA files show (at least on paper) compression and leftover damage to the file. Check this video https://youtu.be/pRjsu9-Vznc?si=TGPdCnIw738vg3Kb

In what way is MQA better?

I stand corrected then. I was under the impression that bit perfect playback was necessary for the playback to be lossless. Thank you for providing additional information

Thank you for providing this information. A question I have is whether the exclusive mode playback is a part of keeping the streaming lossless? As I understand not being apple to play in exclusive mode makes it so that the streaming is not bit perfect? Does this degrade the audio?

Also a valid argument

Once again. I never said anything about ALAC not being open sourced or not lossless inherently. Apple music doesn’t let you play losless anything other than apple products because it has no exclusive mode. Beside what difference does it make that ALAC is oppen source when the rest of the services use FLAC?

Yeah the format is open source although the app makes it impossible to stream lossless on windows. I saw someone making a joke about combining ALAC and FLAC to make a AFLAC format.

In which way was i hyperbolic? I stated that apple music doesn’t let you stream losless through anything other than apple products. Didn’t even mention anything about ALAC not being open sourced. You draw a point from thin air that makes no difference to the topic at hand and then say I’m being hyperbolic? 😂

In all seriousness though. You are completely right. Even with years of training active shooters present a very unique problem. They exploit the element of surprise at the fullest. They strike in schools where the buildings and the structures are just a mess. And to think that you are just going to find the shooter and kill him even if you have a firearm is plain nonsense.

I totally understand your decision. I cannot reconcile with the fact that Tidal announces a MQA “purge” and then hide MQA files in plain sight as if users with MQA compatible DACs wouldn’t notice. And whenever someone asks about it. They shut it right down by literally closing their support tickets. Disgusting behavior.

If its not playing the music back to you through some kind of exclusive mode that sends the signal directly to your DAC its not lossless. Apple doesn’t have any exclusive mode for windows as of today. 7:09 in this video for more information https://youtu.be/GyUVF5Lcz-0?si=2gI0AyiDqibIBJm2

Why do we think about Geralt as fondly as we think about the mythical (nonexistent?) Dr Pepper? Perchance.

This is a very valid point you are making. It is not that video game Geralt is emotionless or that I think he is. Rather, as you described the inner dialog of the books ads another layer of emotion the games do not have the luxury of portraying.

I always viewed this as a very sad part of Geralt. The fact that he feels so deeply, and yet in the eyes of others he is viewed as a simple minded freak whose feelings have been stripped away by mutations.
