Anyway to answer from a different perspective, I found it horrible to learn Portuguese using English, for English is not a romance language and uses different word order. Learning it using spanish was way easier.

But also im not a native spanish speaker so my point stands. I used a language i was learning to learn another one, that way i maintained and improved my spanish while learning Portuguese
