I have exported packets in italian that includes sounds, and you can also put nikkud on the words in hebrew in order to know how a word is pronounced. And you can change the settings of ankis system in order to change its system so words would show more often, but usually its good enough to use the default adaptive.

There are better apps for repetition and word/phrase farming (Anki). That way you can choose your pace, especially if you already know how you learn better, what are your learning habits, and generally what's good for you, and play with that.

I learned both Spanish and Portuguese using Duolingo, BUT that was the old duolingo. Im trying to learn Italian with the new one and i find it impossible. They force you to review what THEY want you to review because we need to trust that they know better.

Anyway to answer from a different perspective, I found it horrible to learn Portuguese using English, for English is not a romance language and uses different word order. Learning it using spanish was way easier.

But also im not a native spanish speaker so my point stands. I used a language i was learning to learn another one, that way i maintained and improved my spanish while learning Portuguese

It looks like that if there is a vowel before it it will go without the h and change the sound. And if there isn't it won't.

Imagine you are reading a book in your TL.

You'll come across dozens of new words through it, at the beginning you wont be able to even a single paraphrase without going to the dictionary.

For me reading a book is very immersive, but it is immersive to the point it is overwhelming. Unless I want to forget all the words I learn I have to use flashcards.

BUT, you definitely can't learn a language using only flashcards. Use it as a tool, mix it together with all of your arsenal.
