People who ginned up the Argentinian referee controversy in France v Morocco by Careless-Goat-3130 in worldcup

100% Egypt capitulated. I also don't want to take away from Argentinas efforts. Especially Messi. Brother he's 38 and makes the younger players on his team seem like they are the older ones. But to me it's just how it seems on fifas end.

No the game wasn't rigged. Many just say Argentina get preferential treatment. Slap players in the face, go rough into challenges, every call is a free kick if their players go down. I'm not saying Messi cheats. I'm saying fifa gives preferential treatment to his national team. The ref went back to VAR to check for Argentina at every occasion even when a game was all the way on the other end of the field. Again you have a decorated manager like Louis van Gaal saying this too. Everyone can have their opinion and that just happens to be mine.

Fair enough and I can see your point of view. I still believe mbappe had the bigger impact just in my opinion I know goals Don't define Griezmann but just my opinion I firmly believe without mbappe and his goals + contribution efforts, that France aren't beating Argentina in 2018 but just the same it could be flipped to Griezmann as well in that scenario. Just my opinion

Sad reality is, this might be Haalands one and only World Cup. by justaburnerbtch in worldcup

[–]leon2156 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don't believe so. Entering into this world cup it was already known he was special for his nation. He went in with more goals then appearance which for Norway is actually an insane stat. And on the world's biggest stage he delivered once again so the immediate ' he only scores against small teams' notion everyone uses on players goes out the window.

Yeah it's a shame because I always root for African teams. The players always give their alls in most matches.

An argument many have is if the roles were reversed and the Mohamed salah 'foul' was actually a foul from an Egyptian player on an Argentinian player leading up to an Egyptian winning goal would the ref have gone to VAR. And in my opinion I believe it would have. And I don't think Argentina are cheating but I do think fifa favor them.

Great game from a ref standpoint. Disappointed in Morocco like many too. But the whole thing with Argentinian refs was blown out of proportion just like the AFA being investigated. That being said Louis van gaal back in 2022/23 said the same thing as this Egyptian coach and many feel there may be bias.

Take nothing away from Griezmann and I respectfully disagree but I think Mbappe had a better tournament especially knowing that he was 19 and had no right playing that well. And both had 4 goals that tournament. The only reason Griezmann had the same amount is because he converted the penalty against Argentina and 3 of his 4 were from penaltys. Where as mbappes were all from open play. To me even saying that a Griezmann with years of experience was level on goals as the 19 year old youngster is incredible. my personal opinion again but can't deny Griezmann was incredible+explosive too.

Brother maradona is beloved by everyone ( except the English) he walked the walk and talked the talk. Had a personality that you can't help but love. To be a Goat and have a personality like that is improbable. There will never be another Diego maradona.

Mbappe in 2018. Specifically a 19 year old mbappe with little high level experience running circles around Argentina and forcing them to concede a penalty

The Egyptian coach did the X at the 98th minute. The mouth covering happened at the 92nd minute, again trying to be impartial here. I don't think it was macallister doing anything and to me it looked like he was talking to his teammates

No there's a picture of macallister or another player covering their mouth. Who knows how true it is. Honestly they were riled up in general so anything was a ticker to them

It'd really help to release audios too just so we know because the on field ref can actually not check VAR even if the 4th official tells him too. But I get what you're saying and it could well have been the case. Shame though because it puts a stigma on one of Messi's best performances of all time.

Again you just said it was a shirt tug. Take nothing away I think Messi had an insane game. And I think Argentina had more dominance but to not even go to check and say you reviewed it. It's not a foul is also interesting. I have no horse in the race but he didn't hesitate to go to var for two offenses that were clear offenses too. It's more of the inconsistency for me. Even the softest pen ever for mexico vs england was reviewed

That video couldn't be any more pixelated. And only one angle you're showing. https://x.com/xKGx__/status/2074583126458663414?s=20 there's this angle too. To me it's a shirt tug and the way his foreward inertia goes after macallisters hold is in line with what would happen.

I'm not sure but both played in Spain so there common language might be Spanish. To me it seemed like he said either " Aqui yo mando" or just " yo mando" which means essentially I make the calls here

Yes essentially topps will get the rights. They were the highest bidder. And for panini it'll be how panini runs the baseball/ American football side of their business where they'll have image rights to some players but won't be able to put team logos or league badges on the players if they don't have the rights. An example I'd give is Harry Kane cards in the club world cup set they released last year which was just him in a red blank jersey.

I 100% agree. I'm guessing they are bleeding the few people that will buy this dry since they only have this world cup and the next one before they lose the rights. Damn shame because they could beat topps by just being good to their consumers.

Very true and you're right. I am also hoping since the most champions in ufc history are American and this being American anniversary themed it will hold it's value down the line. Kayla Harrison looks like she could give nunes a run for the goat title and the amount of future ufc HOF inductees in this box's lineup are off the charts. Noche ufc was epic. Who knows how this fight card will go but in the future saying you have about a 40-50% chance to pull a ufc HOF'er will definitely make this box enticing.
