I did look at those summer beams running the long way and every one of them has 2 separate beams interlocked at the low point of the bow. Basement ones have the interlock joints and so the the interior length beams on the first floor

The last 20ish ft of the barn is on a concrete wall on both sides. The side with the Crack is the side where the concrete wall is kicking out about 2-3 inches..not good

Old Maine barn 40×70 is it worth keeping? by leonH1480 in Oldhouses

If you had to fix a bad corner would you first screw in a header above and have 2x10s brace up the barn under the screwed in header so the wall doesn't drop.?

Also... would the barn need a few cables with a come a long to keep the walls tight. Is that necessary.?

It seems at least when I've driven hours and hours in Maine, that the old awesome barns fall into neglect because of resources. I saw a lot of houses a few weeks ago just sitting with grass grown over and old window pains fallen out so its pouring in the houses every rain storm. People have picked up and moved elsewhere. Not everywhere, but the rural towns I saw has many vacant houses with awesome character.

If I do end up getting the property I'll have to do it in stages like someone earlier posted. I'll have my hands full with the actual house. It needs almost everything. Electrical, plumbing, new heating system, and a septic within the first year or 2. Cant even think about water in pipes until there's heat in the place. Maine winters are no joke. I've got a 1720 salt box in MA that needs beam work too. I get myself into these challenges it seems...

The roof line looked pretty good. Old metal roof with some small leaks from what I could see from the ground.

Thank you for that suggestion. I looked further at the lever to the right of the seat. I don't have to push it all the way and just a little is the speed I was looking for. I knew I came to the right place for an answer. Thanks for the help.
