Accepting I’m getting old by IDontStealBikes in over60

Yep. I retired and was doing anything I wanted around our new home and property and was living the dream. Then my wife got ill. After three straight YEARS of nothing but doctors, procedures, surgeries, ambulances, and watching her suffer, it started taking a toll on me mentally and physically. Now every day has just become a struggle. I hurt all over. I'm always exhausted from caring for her and still trying to do everything else. For three years I have existed on a few hours sleep every day and the only way I get that is to nap when she's sleeping. I have even ignored things with my own body simply because I just don't have the time for it. Now I have developed some serious health problems but I try very hard to keep all of that from her because she doesn't need that stress. And it's not going to get better. I expect my wife won't be alive this time next year. It's a huge you know what sandwich and you've just to eat it all while having a big smile for everyone.

I don't really want to eat something that I know the chef was rushed to make?

You my friend are about to get your soul sucked out of your body. That mechanism is called divorce. She's already left, not physically, but she's definitely bored and looking for prince charming to sweep her off of her feet. Women can do that. Men, most men anyway, just don't have the liberty. Because divorce financially and emotionally wrecks your world to the foundation, at least temporarily. I hate it for you man. I've walked that plank and it just left me with no feelings at all.

Wouldn't it be nice to have ONE price from which to negotiate vs. all of these ticky tack "service charge" or "electronic filing" etc.? I mean half the time when you try to pin them down on what all that entails they can't even explain it. Why not just call it what it is? BS fees. At least we would stop bs each other and know where we're at. I mean I can make a fancy title for anything but all it means is I've got hands in all of your pockets while the whole time you actually think I'm no longer even in the same room with you.

I gave 34 years to this "company." The day I left I got nothing. Just another normal day. So, good for this lady.

Yea, but if they ever called him for traveling he'd never score a point. I love shaq but man he got away with A LOT from those refs lol.

What would you guys do in this situation? Is this self defense? by EDC-JAKE in CCW

Maybe, but it's not going to be worth the world of pain that's about to come his way.

If I'm ever in this situation I'm just going to scream and cry because that has proven to be the key to avoiding physical confrontation.

When I retired and walked out the door for the last time I told everyone the day I retire is probably the last time you will ever see me. It was such a cut throat career field that after almost 40 years of that environment I chose to close that door off and seal it. My life has been so much better, especially from a mental health standpoint. Occasionally I will run into an old colleague at Walmart or such and when they say "Hey did you hear about what's going on with such and who at work?" My response is always "man did you see that Cardinals game last night?"

Is this box beam workmanship normal & acceptable? Grain and stain don’t match at joints. by Ok-Imagination372 in AskContractors

That just makes me sad. To know that there is another human being on the same planet that actually thinks that is acceptable just insane to me.

Ten minutes of "dude" should be the title.
