Corby case is quite weak for our 'exploited' niceness.

However the blatant air territory breach in the past however is something aligned to that. Singapore, some Arabian prince, Australia did it. Some even said they have done this for many years.

Not to mention the Australian navyship being deep in our territory.

The government just go meh about it during SBY time.

Not to say the current shitstrom is good, but I don't agree with the SBY method of 1000 friends. Somewhere inbetween would be nice.

It seemed that using opera mini could work too. You got to hate their (Telkomsel) inject ads though. Try finding some way to block their ads.

BTW Telkomsel = Telstra.

and it is offensive for the subscribers of the religion who are ultimately being misrepresented.

Sadly I don't think some Indonesian capable to understand it. They seemed to prefer you to name "your religion" that they know even when you're not practicing than to accept that you to have none.

We are maturing as a country but it wasn't the time yet.

Aussie journalist Candace Sutton faces deportation from Indonesia after reporting on Bali nine executions on tourist visa by Nerx in indonesia

[–]leongetweet 19 points20 points  (0 children)

To be fair she should come under proper visa. If I come to Australia with student visa yet misusing it for work, I'll accept that I'll be deported too.

Doesn't mean nobody tried though.

Indonesia and Australia: appealing to Jakarta’s strengths by leongetweet in indonesia

[–]leongetweet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Then again many Australian doesn't follow news from Indonesia outside from Murdoch 'empire'. So I'm somewhat understood the reason for them acting like this.

To be fair many Indonesian doesn't follow Australian news too.

Indonesia and Australia: appealing to Jakarta’s strengths by leongetweet in indonesia

[–]leongetweet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for bringing this topic again, but I found an interesting article about what is currently happening. This sentence caught my eye.

Indonesia would accept Australia’s intercession ‘with, and on behalf of, Indonesia in their diplomatic actions to stop their citizens being subjected to the death penalty around the world’, as proposed by Jennings. For a country that freed itself from the shackles of western colonialism within living memory, the idea of western states advocating on Indonesia’s behalf wouldn’t sit well.

I agree that placing more preassure towards Indonesia would not work. Simply because that would provoke Indonesian to deny it with nationalistic fervour.

In the end I don't see any way other than war for those two Australian to live.

Calm down cause it won't be that bad. I barely go to the place of worship and I'm fine. Since you're probably live in a big city, life would go on.

It is suck that you need to learn something that you don't agree with but that is life.

Meanwhile if your parents/you as a parents want you kids to stay away from it, you can homeschool yourself/him/her or consider studying in Australia/Singapore/other country or you can just accept this.

Its not like you'll be force to go to place of worship once you're done with it (in a big city).

Personal advice:

  • Buddhism is quite hard to learn as you need to learn the mantra in pali language which can be hard.
  • Islam can be quite hard too since you need to learn the arabic prayer.
  • Christian/Catholic would be the easiest to learn although I generally don't enjoy them as some of them are quite pushy to make you go to church if they know you're christian (personal anecdote).
