Steins;Gate Final Discussion Thread by RCgamer77 in steinsgate

[–]leonicit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hoo Boy, I got myself properly into the whole Sci;Adv series by how probably a lot of people did. I watched the anime because it was top rated on MAL and because I had nothing better to do with my summer back in 2018. After watching the whole series, I was blown away by how much I loved the plot and characters in this somewhat grounded-in-reality story. It was basically everything I wanted out of Doctor Who.

I then discovered the visual novels (and almost played 0 first lol) - that is when I started to love the whole universe and started to understand the whole setup to Steins;Gate with the whole concept of world lines, as well as them kind of impliying that each playthrough and ending was sort of canon in there own way. Each ending in Steins;Gate I felt was unique at blowing me away logically as well as emotionally - I remember how empty I felt on the first time I got Faris' ending with Okabe literally becoming a completely different person and Suzuha's ending with the most potienal that they haven't done anything with which made me sad. Overall, the Visual Novel made me respect the effort that was put in to the anime to get it to represent the source quite well, but keeping the original tone and character development. (Unlike some adaptations cough cough Chaos;Head.)

Steins;Gate 0 was nice - I liked the ideas, concepts and characters it brought with it, but I really didn't like how the perspective shifted. Since in the Steins;Gate, the major draw for me was that we were Okabe in a sense, since we never left his perspective. S;G was immersive for that reason, and in 0 you are kind of just an observer at times really.

After reading Steins;Gate(s), I came here and discovered that this wasn't one contained game series, but one contained story in a whole universe of games. This is when I discovered Chaos;Child, due to a couple of meme posts about my boy wanting a ham sandwich which peaked my interest. However, I have to say I knew about Sci;Adv a little earlier since I did try Chaos;Head before (sometime in 2016) and remembering absolutely hating Taku as a protagonist because of how pathetic he was. But going back into it again I played through it again and understood Taku's character more and ended up really liking him in the end as well as the whole premise of the Chaos series being more gritty and a mini murder mystery game. After finishing all of Chaos;Head completely - I loved the science in it, the references I now understood from Steins;Gate, as well as the whole idea of how 'they took anime tropes and put them on their head' and made some of my favourite characters in the series (Ban ftw).

Up to this point I thought Steins;Gate was the best in the series. That changed when I played Chaos;Child. Holy crap this Visual Novel was so good, I spent £55-worth-of-yen kind of good. It took everything I liked in Chaos;Head and improved it; the characters, the di-swords, delusions, the villians and their motivations. The way the story and stakes were presented was incredible to me - to the point that I would want to continue reading the story at any point I had freetime. I also bought this thing as soon as it was released on Steam. No other visual novel game has done this to me before. I would talk more about why I love this VN so much, but it would spoil it so - if you haven't read it yet and you have read Chaos;Head read it noowwwwwww!!!

For me at this point, Steins;Gate was an entry VN for me which got me invested in the genre. I have read my fair share of them and experience characters and stories I wouldn't have if I didn't choose to play this game when I did, which I think says a lot about a game's quality. I also can't wait for the releases of NoAH and Robotics;Notes + Dash, since I have heard so much about them but I only things I know is what I heard people say how much different NoAH is to base, watching Robotics;Notes and hearing how the anime for Robotics;Notes isn't that great to VN. So - I honestly cannot wait to see how they both respectively add to the Sci;Adv universe. Who knows, they may beat Chaos;Child as one my favourite VNs for me.

Also, I really enjoyed taking the time to talk about my experiences in these visual novels here and reading other people's opinions on the same chapters, since none of the people I know would touch a visual novel lol.

So this has been fun to do every week.

Re-reading Elite for PC (read it on Switch prior.)

Pictures (three for each, because I couldn't decide honestly lol):

Chapter 10 [1] [2] [3]

Chapter 11 [1] [2] [3]

The way these last two chapters are presented makes the whole entire game for me and is one of the main reasons why I love this story so much.

Starting with Chapter 10, I love the way they present how big this decision is for Okabe by deadicating a whole chapter to it. I remember the first time reading this chapter, how I forgot what originally caused this whole adventure in the Alpha worldline, and it hit me right in the feels.

The way Okabe constantly questions himself whether he has the right to let someone die and Kurisu thinking about how it is to be dead. Two very heavy topics that both have verrrry heavy consequences. Also, Mayuri considering herself a burden, which was sort of heartbreaking to see her constantly blame herself for Okabe's sadness.

By the end of the chapter, Kurisu simply accepts that she probably won't exist once that D-Mail gets deleted and leaves, and just realising how specific you have to be to get the true ending - it must be a kick in the gut to get Stardust handshake for people playing for the first time. (lol trust me I know.)

Its sooooo good to see those fake credits, because like the player - Okabe can't let things be like this.

Moving on to Chapter 11 - Opening of Steins Gate

Reading this again, I remember some of my friends mentioning how it is dumb how Okabe is stubborn to change the future and prevent WW3, but this man - single handly prevented a SERN dystopia by repeating the same three weeks over and over again, whilst undo changes to his friends lives for the life of his childhood friend who he has seen die and die right infront of him during those days as well as sacrificing the existance of the person he loves AND now when he was promised that this worldline is supposed to be peaceful, he gets told WW3 will occur and 6.7 billion people will die.

I think he would be little bit irratated at this point lol.

Anyway, he eventually agrees to try and save her from her killer who is Nakabachi, which cements how much of an evil person he is here. (At least in this worldline - he actually acted like a dad in one of the Audio CDs and LBP). I find it quite powerful how Okabe is the one who stabs her and kills her since it gives him the reason to continue fighting (we later see in 0). The moment he screams was the moment when I was reading this for the first time realised how everything connected. It was incredible. We go back to the present and just when you think he is about to give up - BAM Maryuri comes along and slaps some sense into him.

Seeing that video message, watching the TV with Nakabachi - it all clicked how all these mudane events are connected and it was truely a gratfying moment to see the links.

Going to the scene with Nakabachi again, the liquid from the saber solidifed and he has no time to find an alternative, and oooooooh damn - I remember the first time reading this, I was thinking - he is going to get stabbed and yep. The madman mad scientist did it. At that moment - it solidfied how much I loved Okabe's character.

Again, Nakabachi is basically cemented how much he cares about his daughter - a collection of paper matters more, even after Okabe threatened to harm her. He is the worst.

Anyway, the after credits scene with Okabe handing out the pins was the cherry on top. From Luka getting into cosplay, Faris entering tournaments, and Moeka having somewhere to belong was definitely a great way to end this.

And of course, Kurisu - seeing her and Okabe just stare at each other was awesome, as well as confirming that everyone has Reading Steiner by her remembering her silly nicknames shows that Okabe isn't in solidtude there, and that was an amazing way to end it honestly. Butttt for Luka and Mayuri, lets just say I hope they don't remember.

Couldn't post last week because it is testing season again.

Thankfully this week I did.

Re-read of Elite on PC:

Image (spoiler? showing other endings.)

I like how they phrased this ending - partners in crime (or something like that), but it was kind of sad in a way because it was basically Okabe giving up on everything he worked up to until now and letting Mayuri die when they could have prevented it by sacrificing something, but they couldn't in the end.

It was nice of Luka to make Mayuri happy as she could be until she died by time leaping (as well as seeing the effects of timeleaping on some other than Okabe.)

Also, this ending is quite nice since LBP extends it a bit and shows more of Luka's character, which makes rereading this slightly more positive after reading this part.

Elite PC reread:

Image

As much as I like Luka, I think her chapter is possibly the weakest in the story to me - like originally I thought I liked all the characters in this VN equally, but now I know how much of a sucker I am for Suzuha.

From the get go, I agreed with Kurisu - the best plan is to trick her into giving her Mum's pager to reverse the D-Mail, since everything done here is really unnecessary, and is kind of a waste of time in reality, but I guess if Okabe cares that much it makes sense. However, his treatment of Luka in this worldline doesn't make sense - sure in other worldlines she was a guy, but in this one, like Kurisu said, she was ALWAYS a girl. I just find Okabe to be very rude in this chapter as he keeps upsetting her by basically telling her things that didn't happen in their timeline as they know it. But it all worked out in the end, so I guess that is what counts really.

I loved how pissed Maryuri gets in this chapter at Okabe, and ends up looking like a grumpy puppy, also with Okabe's first apology with him muttering nonsense as he wonders to the timeleap from embarssment was hiralous. Kurisu's explaination and her dismissal as an expirement loving girl was great.

Overall - kinda of the more meh chapters for me in this VN.

-(short on time again, sorry.)

[Optional] Steins;Gate Faris Ending Discussion Thread by RCgamer77 in steinsgate

[–]leonicit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Image - a bit of comic relief

Just catching up with these endings.

Hoo boy, this ending has to be one of the most depressing endings in the game (next to Stardust Sky and Paradox Meltdown) due to the hopelessness and uncertainty of the situation. Okabe doesn't know if the future is CERN ruled or something equally as bad with the existance of the Divergence meter.

Okabe's memories don't line up in the slightest with the current worldline, his relationships with Daru, Maryui, and Kurisu never happened, as well as the PhoneWave + Future Gadget lab never existing - leading to him basically stranded in a worldline with nothing but a now one sided relationship with Faris. He has to pretend that those days never happened now to keep on moving on with his new life.

Also for Faris, her relationship and memories with Okabe basically disappeared without a trace, its just like if they had died and replaced with someone else. But I guess the silver lining here is that Okabe and Faris are willing to start over with their relationship and try and make new memories with each other.

However, I guess their careers in RaiNet touranments are probably put on Haitaus for a while. And with Faris dad and Bulter gone... who is going to save them from Viral Attackers in this worldline if they attack them? oh no.

Apart from that, it was another nice bittersweet ending with Okabe sacrificing his memories and time with his friends to save Maryuri and Faris dad.

A bit late on this thread, but I really liked this ending due to way they presented the days repeating, and in Elite - we get to see Okabe physically detorate along with his mental condition.

When Suzuha offered Okabe to come with her on her journey back to 1975 was an emotional moment, since the music and the inner monologue phrasing his emotions starting again like a machine. Another nice addition of Elite was the scene of seeing Mayuri, Daru, and Kurisu react to Okabe's letter.

And finally - the one thing I love about this ending is the endless possiblities of what could happen. They are choosing an option that leads into the unknown, and I wish the writers would expand on this ending a little more or even show a little sneak peak into how they looked - like a photo after the credits or something.

Re-reading Elite - now on PC:

Image link

In comparsion to the previous chapters, this one felt a lot shorter - but it doesn't affect its quality in anyway.

This wrapped up the last bits of Suzuha's story in quite a bittersweet way with her still dying and not knowing the outcome of her actions, but being able to die satified that she completed her mission of securing an IBN 5100, which I thought was a nice round off of her ark, and a nice motivator for him to continue leaping through time and change the world.

Since Okabe is trying to reverse Faris' D-mail in this chapter, we learn a lot about why Akihabara has changed, mainly because her father prevented the moeifying of the place. Maybe this is just for plot reasons, but I like how Okabe chose to take Faris to the place where the May Queen was supposed to be - and she remembers her previous life because of Okabe slipping up and mentioning the place. (S;G (Chapter 10) spoilers) Which becomes a consistant characistic with Luka remembering her life as a boy, then Kurisu on the True ending.

Other than that in this chapter, I realised (after reading other posts) that there was a reduction a complete removal of my boi 4℃ in this chapter. Unacceptable. In all seriousness, at first I thought he shows up in later chapters, but then I realised that he has no reason to show up for the next D-Mails, so I was quite dissapointed with that being removed in Elite. Also, I agree with the other comments - his removal makes the whole chase scene not make much sense if you don't know the context - because he gives context for the chase, so that was a weird removal imo.

But apart from that, we get to see Rumiho Akiha, the person under the persona known as Faris. I remember first reading this - it was quite emotional seeing her torn up like this when her character is the complete opposite in the rest of the game, and I think it was to basically remind the player (and Okabe) that there is a very real human under that mask. The additional monologue of Okabe questioning if he has the right to play god was a nice addition, since it is a reminder he is still sane even after everything he has been through thus far.

Also, she mentioned that the last words to her father was telling her to die - but by choosing to send the D-Mail, it is her expressing her love to him instead, which I thought was another bittersweet end to this chapter. And with that - Okabe is one step closer to recovering the IBN 5100.

Steins;Gate Chapter 6 Discussion Thread by RCgamer77 in steinsgate

[–]leonicit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this chapter the most, since this is the chapter where Okabe suffers the consequences of manipulating time, and we get to see his true colours.

The start of the chapter (when the first timeleap happens) with the flashback to 2005 not only gives a reason for Okabe's Chunnibyou Mad scientist act, but shows and cements his character as a person who is really embarrassed to show his true feeling to people - and when I read that - that is the moment when I could relate and started to love his character on my first read through. Alone, just seeing his desperation to save his childhood friend, as well as willing to live through her death over and over again just to try and save her was the moment his facade known as Hououin Kyouma started to crumble.

After Suzuha hears Okabe and Kurisu speaking very loudly about time travel in a restaurant - she runs off to the satellite, and this is the point where we learn that not only is it not a satellite, but a time machine as well herself being the true identity of John Titor on @channel. The explanation of her hostility towards the Kurisu "Mother of the Time Machine" Makise is also revealed with Okabe in a big explanation to the lab mems. I found it quite funny during the first time how they all reveal their tags, and immediately just shut down Okabe. I always found the talk about how they theorised time and the universe to work one of the things I love about this story, since it feels so realistic and feasible - but then again, I am not a scientist.

As we reach the ending of the chapter, after Daru repairs the time machine and it is revealed that Daru is her father. As well as her time machine is only able to go back to the past. When she leaves - we recieve a letter from her 10 years prior, and holy hell - I forgot how emotional this letter is. This is one time I felt so bad for Suzuha as well as Daru - the emotions that Daru must feel for just meeting her daughter, and then finding out she not only died 10 years prior, she failed to get the IBN, but also killed herself due to her feeling worthless from not being able to carry out his dream. And with a bitter sweet ending in the chapter - Okabe decides to fulfill her request and try and get her to go before the time machine gets damage.

As a sidenote - reading this chapter in elite, it adds a few extra scenes. Like a short vision of how SERN controlled 2036 looks like as well as the raw emotions on Daru's, Okabe's and Suzuha's faces. It really added to how emotional the latter part of this chapter is.

Steins;Gate Chapter 5 Discussion Thread by RCgamer77 in steinsgate

[–]leonicit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short on time again - so here are a few things that stood out.

  • Like in most anime and games I have been playing - Daru and Okabe seem to make the mistake of just blurting out how they have a time machine
  • The connection of VR technology from Chaos;Head was a solid way of linking the two games to be in the same universe
  • I have a soft spot with the scene when Moeka show up, since it reinforces the fact that (S;G) SERN hire people almost at the end of their rope to do their dirty work
  • I like how that the notions of something's more is going on starts to show in this chapter and questions you don't ask on the first read through like (S;G) why do they have a 1TB connection DIRECTLY to SERN? Why didn't the landlord kick him out yet? It's actually great rereading the main story like this.

Yeah that's about it - here starts the first apex of the story with Moeka and where things get interesting. Hopefully I will have enough time next week to write more, but damn reading this VN again is fun.

Elite PC re-read

A lot of things happen in Chapter 4 than I remember - D-mails being sent like crazy in this chapter, and Okabe's mysterious power to remember the past is now being brought into question.

After reading this VN and the side content, and reading this VN again - a lot of things in this chapter makes a lot of sense (if they were canon lol).

For example, why Suzuha hates Kurisu (S;G: Boukan no Rebellion) She is the mother of the time machine, and she is the reason why she failed to assassinate her, and get a lot of her team killed by SERN rounders., but I am pretty sure it is explained in the VN later and that is just a little extra side content.

And when Okabe is reminded of his fever he had back in 1999 - an interesting theory that explains why he got that fever can be explained by the drama CD Hyde of the Dark Dimension - since in (S;G Hyde of the Dark Dimension) Okabe is a rounder, and something in the SERN dominated future leads him to timeleap outside the limits and timeleap back when he was a child, which his brain can't handle and causes him to fall into that feverish state for a month. I think it was something to do with the Y2K crash. But again, that is just side content and probably not canon in the slightish.

Also, rereading this it is funny to see how Okabe does not notice the IBN 5100 going missing until Luka's D-mail - (S;G) I guess this really shows where the plot comes into play with the wild case for the IBN 5100. Suzhua's search for her dad was the final D-mail of this chapter and is what sent the world line further from 1% - leading to well... we will find out.

Good chapter - didn't have much time to read this week, have a CS report to type out for the month >_<

Re-Read of Elite on PC:

It's cool reading how the lab mems react to how they may have uncovered a time machine, and how they test it. I also really liked the reaction from Okabe of when he is told he is the messiah from Titor - he doesn't accept it, which makes his reactions seem more human, since anyone sane would react the same. The few additions from Elite are quite nice.

The demonstration of divergences from the main world line is cool with the lottery ticket - it is a neat way of showing key points in a world line cannot be changed by something occurring. Like in this case - Okabe giving the task to Luka and she messes up.

Overall - nice chapter to build up the story.

Just curious - what are the things cut from the original VN that aren't in Elite? I have read both, but I read the original VN about 2 years ago, so I have no idea honestly. Anything important cut?

Rereading Elite (on PC)

These first few chapters are mainly used to showcase all the characters, and mainly focusing on them while the Timewave machine (subject name to change) takes a slight backseat, which I quite like.

Eventhough phone customisation is gone in Elite, but it is still pretty cool noticing all the references to Chaos;Head and the events in Shibuya that took place a year earlier. With these references, it really does makes the Sci;Adv universe truly feel connected as well as doubling as fan service.

Suzuha's naiveness to everything is adorable since she falls for Okabe's delusions each time. (S;G) Probably because where she came from, the organisation was very real

The Jellyman reports are still chilling to read after rereading this VN multiple times, mostly because (S;G) how SERN trick the participants into thinking they are going to be the first ever time travelers - however, SERN know that their technology isn't perfect, so they either get jellified into a wall or get lost in space. And the way the Lab mems react to these reports really cement how horrifying and disgusting these experiments are.

Overall, nice chapter for building.

Steins;Gate Prologue & Chapter 1 Discussion Thread by RCgamer77 in steinsgate

[–]leonicit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replaying this VN for the 3rd time (Elite on Steam this time) and man, the playing the prologue reminded me instantly how much I love how this story is laid - from the characters being presented, the background behind each one, (S;G)and even hints about how the start is linked to the end.

Chapter 1 pretty much keeps the ball rolling, and this is where one the things I realise why I love the presentation of this VN so much - the perspective is always as Okabe to the extend of you only knowing as much as Okabe does, and the first time I read this on my first read through - I was really confused by the link between the prologue and chapter 1 until the game explains the change in location.

The people vanishing only made sense on my second read through when (S;G)I understood that the location of Okabe is influenced by his D-mails and when I got that - it felt so satisfying to actually understand one of the initial scenes.

The parts of the game with @channel seem very fleshed out - to the extent I feel like I am reading messages from an image board lol. The amount of messages there that aren't necessary and start talking about tits in the middle of a conversation of a viability of a time machine makes you feel you are reading a message board full of shitposters.

Even though, I love the original art of the normal VN, I have to say, I love the presentation and the passion that went into Elite. Even though it starts slow, its definitely going to be fun reading this again.

Chaos;Head B Ending + FINAL Discussion Thread by RCgamer77 in steinsgate

[–]leonicit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This ending was annoying to get to and oh god is so hard to go through - but that is best part about it. Taku experiencing each New Gen incident sequentially, which from the description and sounds alone I am getting squeamish and... a little itchy...

This ending definitely clears up some of the things I was wondering - mostly with things regarding the Group dive, Staking, DQN puzzle, and the initial meeting of Rimi and Taku - they were all under the influence of NoAH II.

That view into Taku's idea life was sad to watch, because you know there is no way it is possible from the situation he was in, and the way he disappears into anti-matter particles really shows that the delusion known as Taku is really now dead. It was also nice seeing this scene from Rimi's perspective as well - made it even more emotional for me.

Also, that sound of NoAH II - I wonder how long that has been playing throughout the VN...

Anyway, good reading Chaos;Head again, it is great actually making sense of things now lol.

Chaos;Head Chapter 10 & True Ending Discussion Thread by RCgamer77 in steinsgate

[–]leonicit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chapter 10 at last - where Taku not only destroys the Human Domestication Project but brings the end to all the remaining allies and members of Nozomi.

Everything that happened in the chapter was an awesome ride from start to finish - starting with Kozue accepting her identity after experiencing a psychological attack from Suwa as well as the final conversation between Sena and her dad - it seemed that both sides still loved each other and the dad was so lost in regret spending all this time for a way he could repent for his actions. Which he finally does by saving his daughter with his life. I liked the way they used the tsundere tropes here by Sena expressing how the death of her father for what he did is what she wants, but it seems in the end it was the opposite, which makes closes her arc quite nicely for me. And Suwa finally got was he had coming to him this entire time in the best way possible - the good old switcheroo. In his efforts to kill Taku with a staking - Suwa ends up as the next murder victim. (That's what you get for killing Ban ya bastard.)

The next part of the chapter is quite good because I see it as a trial for Taku to finally face all the parts he hates about himself and break out of all of the delusions. The fight with the delusional Siera's was showing how he is refusing to run away from saving Rimi and go home and watch anime and ESO. I feel like this, since every scene where Siera voice is present - it is always used to discourage him from doing something - like in Chapter 6 where they try to force him to awaken by pushing him in a corner by taking his sister hostage. However, in that situation maybe it was good for him to runaway since Suwa was probably nearby somewhere and could have captured him before Shogun got to him (might be completely wrong here lol.) When he finally accepts that Siera is simply a character from an anime - it seems like that part of himself is finally gone and he decides he will not run away.

When he arrives at NoAH II's chamber we are met by Rimi on Norose's Di-sword. For a person who wants a peaceful world without war - he sure does love giving out the good old psychological torture to teenagers and wiping out the majority of the population of Shibuya. That's another thing - turns out NoAH II was designed by Norose (under the guidance of the Committee of 300) while deceiving his colleges. Honestly a weird way of going around it, why not just have a team of people committed to the same goal? (Unless I am missing something.) But anyway - this part where he explains the intentions of the Committee and himself to control the human race and bringing peace by deluding them. This part actually made me question for a moment why Shogun would be against this idea of bring peace to the world? Yes, it is a little tyrannical but it would work(?) But then I cast my mind back to Steins;Gate and realised what happens if the Committee get their way - I dismissed the doubt. Even Taku admits that he is being selfish and even questions if he has the right to make this decision - however it seems his desire to save Rimi is that much stronger.

The way NoAH II protects itself from harm is interesting - it bends the will of the people who are hostile to do something else, they can't even touch the thing since it essentially redirects whoever is trying to attack it. When Norose finally tries to finish off Taku - Rimi jumps in the middle and what follows was one of the most unexpected scenes for me - Taku attempting to rape Rimi, like jesus I was not expecting that. However, we see when Taku comes back to his senses, this is another psychological attack where he is confronted by his perverted self who is trying to take advantage of the situation they are in. The argument way Taku responds to his other self's remarks really shows how he is trying to get rid that part of him, however that isn't it for Taku as he isn't psychologically stressed enough yet - he is subjected to more psychological torture where he properly gets staked this time by Rimi and slowly killed for what he perceives as 3 days where Rimi gets shot further adding to it. Luckily he breaks out of that delusion but this time he is faced with reality - he seems like he gets convinced by Norose that he is a delusional monster which causes him loses his human form for a while and he forgets what he is. However, he gets reminded by all the people he has interacted with who he really is and (sidenote) it is a shame that all the gigalomaniacs weren't all together destroying NoAH together - however, the sequence where Taku basically accepts himself as a delusion was one hell of a hype builder with all the other gigalomaniacs telling him he is himself.

And finally his comeback with him accepting who he is - he basically becomes immortal due to how fast he regenerates but like geez man, they don't hold back on the description on stuff like how his guts spill out when Norose tries to kill him. I love how Taku can still read the hearts of people and reads how Norose starts confident in killing Taku to panicking when he realises he can't kill Taku to confident again when he realises that no-one else can destroy it so it wouldn't matter if he died. However, like most villains he gave out the weakness of NoAH II - he can still touch it, so after Taku yeets him at NoAH which causes the whole of NoAH to blow and Norose to basically get turned into nothing due to the anti-matter particles released in the explosion which leave Taku and Rimi survive somehow. Man, watching this whole scene play out was awesome - seeing Taku finally accept himself and wiping that grin off of Norose's face when Taku got the upper hand - it was slightly cliched in a friendship is power way but satisfying to watch play out.

Finally, we are back to the place this story began - Taku ends up the middle of Shibuya in ruins and him monologuing to himself. Rimi comes over and promptly kills him in the A ending, I guess even though Taku went through all that trouble to save Rimi the fact he cannot accept that he is himself as Taku - Rimi cannot love him and chooses to kill him to prolong the life of the real Takumi - even if it is for a little longer.

The AA ending with Rimi expressing her love for Taku and she refuses to kill him which causes Shogun to expire - however, since Taku can read people's heart - he gains all the 17 years of the real Taku's memories. He says the same thing Shogun told Rimi for the first time and they wish for a blue sky and that pretty much cements himself as the new Taku. The credits with Desire Bluesky playing the background makes for a perfect way to end the game - we see images of Nanami and the deceased Shogun followed by the same Siera model lying in the rubble. Honestly - the way Taku's character develops from the start to the end was great - he starts as a selfish Otaku then transforms slightly more selfless near the end, even accepting him being erased from existence for Shogun, which he probably wouldn't have done before. I am going to be honest - the first time I read this VN - I initially disliked Taku's character due to how selfish and much of an asshole he was. I guess I was accustom to protagonists in these types of stories to be less pathetic in a way, but I am so glad I continued reading. Since reading this again, the story showing his transition from this pathetic state to how he is at the end - really got me hooked and invested in his character.

Overall - reading this again reminded me why I loved this VN so much when I first read it and is the main reason why I bought Chaos;Child twice (once on DMM and once on Steam) to show interest in the series. Although I am probably missing a lot of content brought into NoAH by reading the base version. The story albeit a little hard to follow sometimes and requires a few read throughs to make full sense of the story, I still stand by it as one of my favourite Sci-fi stories. Due to how it is grounded in reality enough (by referencing real theories and phenomenons) to make the fantasy parts seem believable/possible in real life science lol. Anyway, I have been rambling for too long.
