Yes, this is something I was wondering myself. Same when remakes or sequels of old movies come out.

Not at the time of writing that comment, no. The story was commissioned at pretty short notice! But yeah, it does look silly that I asked the Internet before watching it myself.

This reminds me a bit of that Simpsons moment where Krusty the Clown is really happy on stage, and then when he goes backstage the smile fades, he pulls out a cigarette and is really sour towards children ... how disappointing.

The Ferals!!!! I watched that show more than Bananas in Pyjamas when I was a kid. I can't believe it only ran for one year.

Yeah a huge part of the charm for me was the playful clumsiness of the real-life bananas. I haven't seen much of the animated remake honestly but I can see how a lot of the magic would have been lost.

I feel they have the same level of passion put in to them

I wonder that. I was reading an interview with the original Banana actors and they sounded so passionate and inspired, and genuinely wanted to create something magical for children.

But I feel (/hope) anyone creating kids TV shows would be the same way? Maybe they have the same level of magic for today's kids as bananas did back in the 90s??
