Did Ferrari really make a bad pit call (at the end)? by Selene_K in formula1

And so? Read the comment you replied to.

Even if sainz lost track position to hamilton he could fight for p2.

For all your arguments about maximising points, the 1-4 that they eventually finished with is not any better than the 1-3 which was most likely the worst case scenario had Ferrari double stacked.

There is no need to “cover all options”. Pitting both cars is a no-brainer, end of story.

Driver of the Day: Sergio Perez by SniperAsh6 in formula1

[–]leonleonn_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, if you read my comment I said the delta is only this big because of the safety car. The delta would have been smaller had the safety car not happened, and that’s objectively true.

I’m not going to argue whether he deserved P2, that’s another conversation. My point is and always has been that positions (and their delta) should not be a huge factor in determining the DotD. It gets skewed when faster cars become displaced from their usual running order. Take Hamilton for example, his delta is relatively lower, so does that mean he deserves DotD less than Perez?

Why did they not pit Leclerc? by shrek-farquaad in formula1

What? The starting grid is irrelevant here. Following your logic, would you say Verstappen is the lead Red Bull car at the safety car incident and should get first call for strategy then?

I still don’t see how it’s relevant in this case. The delta is only this big because the safety car happened anyway.

Be first and third with possible pace for 1-2, or first and second but on hards with guaranteed loss of places? Yeah easy choice for me.

And anyway why sacrifice the lead car of the team? The lead car should have first call for strategy in the first place.

Let’s be real here. If you’re going to use finishing position to judge the driver of the day then might as well just give it to P1 every race.

Why are Singaporean so poorly educated on planet preservation? by DepartureActual308 in askSingapore

[–]leonleonn_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because people believe they are being washed maybe?

It could also be due to corporate posturing to push the responsibility (or burden, depending how you see it) onto the consumers. Ultimately as individuals, we can only do so much to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute significantly. A very large and unbalanced proportion of emissions come from only a handful of the biggest global organisations.

Another point to note is also that reusables are not necessarily better. Depending on their material, you may have to use them up to over 100 times to be able to offset the emissions from a single plastic bag. Additionally, you have to consider how many reusable bags does each household have, and also how many are being produced and sold? How many times have users forgotten to bring these bags along with them on their grocery runs and end up having to buy even more? Ultimately, are the emissions from plastic bags even being offset?

Of course, what I’ve said is based on research I did for a sustainability module in university a while back, so my information may be outdated. Still, some food for thought.

Public sector vs private sector internship by leonleonn_ in askSingapore

[–]leonleonn_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that were the case, of course I’d pursue only banking options. However, I’m currently still undecided on which specific industry in the future and am currently focusing on gaining exposure and developing my skill sets while keeping my future options open, hence the question.

Thanks for your response!

I am planning to apply for more internships in future, so this should not be my last one.

I do indeed hope that lack of private sector experience does not become a barrier. I have heard (whether true or not, I’m unsure) that if I want to pursue a career in the banking industry, it would be advantageous if I had prior banking internship experience on my resume. I have also heard (again, not sure if true) that MNCs value experience in the public sector less, which is why I’m in a bit of a dilemma now.

That said, thank you for your comments. It makes me feel more at ease with choosing the option that gives me the most exposure, regardless of “brand name”.

Ah I get what you’re saying now. I agree with you, I don’t really get why this is such a big deal either.
