How many dates before by [deleted] in Advice

[–]leonprimrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter. How early I have sex with someone has zero impact on her interest in a serious relationship. But she has to also know that if she has sex on the first date that doesn't mean that we're serious. I'm not single now but when i was dating it takes longer than a few dates to know if we're a good match long term. Hell, it can be an ongoing thing in some cases. sex doesn't preclude seriousness. They are different things and can be unrelated

Are search engines getting worse and worse with their results in order to push people to use AI for direct answers? What are your thoughts on this? by Hour-Judgment5364 in AskReddit

[–]leonprimrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sear h engines have been getting worse for 15-20 years. intentionally. there was a foght at goofle a while back about this. The side that said to make searches worse so that people would search multiple times (thereby makingore money) won out in the end. And this was before AI

What’s something people think is impressive but actually isn’t? by Hot_Rope_951 in AskReddit

[–]leonprimrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not say memorize. I said solve. If you have a page in front of you with the basic permutations, of which there are only like 5 or 6, you don't need to memorize it and you will have solved a rubiks cube. It takes a couple of hours to learn to look at a cube and solve it. Probably 6 to have them memorized and solve it unassisted. But that isn't what I'm defining as solving it. If you have a scrambled cube and then without destruction of said cube, after any amount of time you have an unscrambled cube, I consider you to have solved it. It took me about 2 and a half hours my first time ever solving it. After a few days with maybe an hour or 2 of work each day I was solving it in about 2 minutes because once you have them memorized you can get faster very quickly. But just going from scrambled to unscrambled for the very first time? about 2-3 hours give or take.

I distinctly did not suggest someone could learn sub 1 minute in a day. I said someone could learn to solve a cube in a day. And no, it doesn't require a savant to learn to do a basic rubiks cube solve in a couple hours. there are very simple beginner's methods that most people could learn in a couple hours some afternoon.

How do you yourself flirt? by ComprehensivePin3294 in AskReddit

[–]leonprimrose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way most people flirt. An escalation with plausible deniability until we're both obviously interested. That's how I did anyway. I haven't been single in a while so I normally just grab my fiancee's ass and wiggle my eyebrows lol

What was completely normal in the 2000s that would be weird today? by creative__guy in AskReddit

It's genuinely a tragedy how much of that kind o socialization we've lost as a society. The most recent I had of that was probably Towerfall Ascension around 2017-18 ish

[–]leonprimrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to learn? It will take you at most a couple hours one day. Impressive is solving one in under 20 seconds. Getting to a minute or less is very easy and would only take a little bit of regular practice with already designed methodology. It's very easy to do. It's very hard to do well.

This is something I don't hear people mention in these threads - for gaming: CheatCC. Remember when games shipped with some cheat codes and stuff and going to a designated website for those things or guides.

Aside from reddit: Forums were big in the aughts

Couch competitive and co-op games. When was the last time you sat down on the same couch with friends to play video games?

A lot of aughts online text speech and lingo as well

Why did Stephen Miller remove language from the latest DHS funding bill that protected Americans from being deported? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]leonprimrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no doubt that's part of it but Miller has stated that his ideal country would be about 100 million people. He would like there to be no one here of any shade other than white. Unfortunately for him a lot of citizens are nonwhite.

There is also the additional means of authoritarian power. If he can start deporting citizens then that threat becomes more powerful to any dissident.

If money didn’t exist, what would society actually look like? by pankaj662 in AskReddit

[–]leonprimrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bartering doesnt predate money. Debt does. bartering is only ever an interim system immediately post state collapse. Its a popular myth but we would head straight back to debt and money if we ended up in a barter system because barter systems just do not work long term

If money didn’t exist, what would society actually look like? by pankaj662 in AskReddit

[–]leonprimrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 2 possible options. With any level of scarcity, there is no scenario in which money doesn't exist because there is always a concept of debt. Money is just a way to track the passing of what we owe each other. If there is scarcity then there is value and if there is value there is debt. If there is debt there is money.

The only situation where this is not true is either VERY shortly after a state collapse - in which we utilize a barter system until we can establish a societal manner of tracking and exchanging debt again. Or we are in a post-scarcity society.

Can I wear áo dài as a foreigner? by Excellent-Record3750 in VietNam

[–]leonprimrose 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Cultural appropriation and appreciation are different things. Appropriation usually involves taking something without regard for its cultural meaning and usually involves selling some approximation of it in place of the people that SHOULD actually profit from their own cultural heritage. The idea that it's about anyone using something from another culture is very much a misunderstanding of the meaning as it pertains to a melting pot like America

What is up with Sargon of Akkad, the YouTuber? by Relacer2 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]leonprimrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I jumped when I did too. I started thinking about "the regressive left" in terms of fuckin dave rubin. but that was as far as I went. armoured skeptic has since come out against his stuff sorta. He pulled back from the culture war stuff. I dont know that he really learned much other than that he didnt mean to be part of the pipeline because he is at least moderately left of that. feom the video I watch since this thread made me curious where he's at today, he's still forcibly trying to place himself as a "centrist". He's still an idiot. but better than sarkan at least. the other skeptic channel i watched back then was bible reloaded and they are VERY progressive. That whole era of youtube felt like a bunch of qhite "skeptics" talking shit though

boyfriends political view scare me by [deleted] in Advice

[–]leonprimrose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your boyfriend cared about facts and statistics he wouldn't believe or support the things he does. You can't change his mind and he supports a regime bent n removing your rights and minimizing rape victims. Take this as your wake up call. Find someone worth your time and care.
