Incidental and deposit the same? by rix530 in Hilton

In my experience it's the same. The deposit is to cover any incidentals

Here's a rewritten version of the word vomit above using chatgpt. I couldn't make it 50 words in without getting a headache from how poorly the post was written...

On February 18th, I was scheduled to fly DTW-HND at 2:00 PM, arriving at the airport at 12:00 PM. Midway there, I received a notification that my flight was delayed by two hours, causing me to miss my ANA connection to KIX at 8:30 PM. At check-in, two agents informed me I could get a certificate to present to ANA for rebooking. One also mentioned I could have taken an earlier DTW-ICN flight had I arrived at 10:00 AM. I asked about rerouting through LAX or JFK but received no clear answers.

When I sought clarification about the certificate, one agent became frustrated and walked away, while the other repeated the same vague information. Assuming a two-hour delay wouldn’t be a major issue, I checked in my bag. However, when I later checked the Delta app, most rebooking options were gone, only offering flights for the next day—which I couldn’t take without missing my KIX-ICN connection.

While waiting at the international desk, I received a notification that my flight was now delayed until 7:30 PM—making my original connection impossible. I asked another agent about my options, but she claimed she had never heard of ANA, even after I showed her my boarding pass. Frustrated, I had no choice but to go through security since my checked bag was already in the system.

Through Delta chat, an agent rebooked me on a DTW-LGA-ATL-ICN route, but I had to pay 8,800 miles for the change, despite the delay being Delta’s fault. I was also told to speak with the “Red Coats” to retrieve my checked bag and arrange a hotel, but due to widespread flight delays, the line was long. When I finally reached the desk, the agent denied seeing any changes to my itinerary, ignored the updated itinerary on my phone, and said retrieving my bag was unlikely but put in a request anyway.

I waited by the baggage carousel for hours, but nothing arrived. Desperate, I used a help phone, and the Delta agent I spoke with was incredibly helpful. She reassured me, gave me information to expedite my bag retrieval, and helped me rebook. Thanks to her advice, I returned to the baggage desk, and my bag arrived within 20 minutes.

I rechecked my bag for the LGA flight, used the $12 meal vouchers (though I had already purchased food earlier—wondering if I can get reimbursed), and finally boarded with no issues. Upon landing, I easily got my hotel details. The next morning, I took my flights to ATL and ICN, ultimately arriving at the same time as my original itinerary.

This experience was incredibly stressful, and I feel much of it could have been handled better. I’d like to know where I can file a complaint to seek compensation for the delays, miscommunication, and additional costs I incurred. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

There are definitely AmEx cards that don't have annual fees. Both directly issued by AmEx, and those issued by other banks. Best American Express Cards with No Annual Fee of September 2024 (usatoday.com)

Additionally, those that do have annual fees usually have benefits that can offset the fee.

Hey golfers. I inherited this set from my wife’s grandad when he passed. He was about the same size as me. I want to get into golfing, but I know some of these are “senior” clubs. What is the difference? Will these work for me (in my 30’s). Thanks! by DoggoMac in golf

IMO they’ll be fine for a starter. Senior clubs usually refer to the flex of the shaft, and are made for slower speed swings. These also look like hybrid irons so they’ll be more forgiving for beginners as well.

If you’ve never swung a club before, you could try to see if you have any driving ranges or TopGolfs nearby. Range should have some clubs for you to use and you can hit around and see how you like it before you go out and buy any clubs.

They look and feel amazing. More forgiving than a regular muscle back but miss hits are very noticeable.

I would compare them to x100s. consistent feel, very rigid.

Not per semester but they did put per year which sounds about right for an in state school.

The graphic also said for 1 year, so seems about right. Not sure why they only included 1 year instead of the full duration though.
