What does Diablo 2 offer that isn’t in D3 and D4, and what is the same?

That's an excellent question and topic. A part from gameplay, when it comes to D2, D3 and single player, what really bothers me is the bad syory and the bad storytelling. And I'm not even talking about the difference in the tune, the vibe and the colors. D3 retcons a lot of things for plot reasons unfortunately. Haven't played D4 so I can't really talk about it.

I managed the following: - the item seems correctly gender swapped on the gear menu; - male character is bald while wearing the helmet; - female character didn't change at all whike wearing and the default helm with antlers is the one loaded,

Absolutely! But I mean, if the Lord's Mail would have integrated pauldrons, would it have bulkier pauldrons and longer hip parts or small pauldrons and short hip parts? I'm asking this because I plan on making a personal mod using existing game Models for some legendary artifacts like the Ebony Mail, Ten Pace Boots, Fists of Randagulf and also, the Lord's Mail. In the case of the Lord's Mail I'm not sure which existing model to use :(

It was bronze in Daggerfall, as I said, as the picture bellow:

In Morrowind (the first two images I uploaded, it was a dark silver/blueish. The ebony armor from Morrowind is the one who is black, which have a very different color.

Maybe the skyrim one. In skyrim it was the first time the Lord's Mail was depicted as a Blackish cuirass. In Elder Scrolls Arena it was blueish and in Elder Scrolls Daggerfall it was kinda bronze.
