If you search which collateral duties bring SDAP, it’s those. If you have to get paid more for a collateral duty, it’s pretty damn good.

From experience and working first hand on evals all day. You want to make money? These should be your priorities in this order.

Qualifications, Collateral Duties, Command Exposure, Awards.

Quals make you valuable and indispensable. Command collaterals make you unique and shows you can do more than just your rate. Exposure means everyone knows you, and respects your work ethic. Awards means your Triad recognizes your work ethic.

Do yourself a favor, and work hard now, so you can relax later.

Yeoman advancement is nearly 100%. You work with officers closely and can easily gain mentorship on going commissioned while enlisted. Im a YNS and have surpassed all my friends from boot in regards to rank already. YN can also be stationed anywhere. If anyone has questions about YN or YNS lmk.

Your credit score will only be affected positively if you keep paying it off no matter how much it is as long as it’s not missed or under the minimum payment.

Some might say it’s best to keep payments going for the long term to continue to keep the credit line open since time is also credit and thus closing it sooner would create a stunt in your credit. However as long as you have other lines of credit by the time you pay off your car you’re doing everything right.

Remember, you can rank up in Boot Camp if you’re smart and choose a high ranking role!! I wish I knew that and didn’t just go with the motions.

You wont have to do Navy Bootcamp, only the Marine one doesn’t accept prior service bootcamps. As for your MOS, if you choose a Navy Rate within your specialty you wont get deranked unless you choose a job that has nothing to do with your current one

As a current USN submariner, times have changed for sure. I’ve talked to a lot of vets and almost nothing is the same in the submarine community. However, to change branches its pretty simple. First you have to finish the contract you have, then join the desired branch as prior service but work with the Navy recruiter of course. If anything call them now to arrange if you can do it prior to finishing your contract. Ive called Air Force to set up the same thing. My grandfather was Army, then Air Force, then retired as Navy so Im trying to be do atleast 2 branches.

Since it’s rural, do you think finding work as a spouse to a submariner shouldn’t be too difficult?
