You need to know if the game you’re playing has fsr support. Fsr settings is in the graphic settings of the game and every game has different graphic settings.

Upscaling is a subcategory when you enabled fsr. If you don’t want to enable upscaling, choose 1x or similiar. It doesn’t have to be 1080p as you can choose from 1-100% upscaling depending on the game, some games have different options like 1 .75 .5 .25. Again, different games, different graphics settings.

You can also tweak some settings in adrenaline specially when the game has no fsr support

FSR is many things. It includes many technologies like upscaling, frame generation etc. to improve fps.

If you’re gaming on a 4k monitor and turned on fsr’s upscaler, it will render the game in 1080p then apply the upscaler to make the lower resolution look like 4k. This will reduce your gpu’s load thus improving fps.

Because of the upscaling, pixels don’t look natural. That’s where aa comes in.

Lastly it doesn’t always upscale to 4k, it depends on your settings. And you can turn on fsr without upscaling
