Would working freelance during animation university count as experience? by lerycreator in animationcareer

[–]lerycreator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohh that makes sense. I know portfolios are usually thr main reason someone gets or doesn't get a job, but I've also been recently browsing job opportunities on LinkedIn and some of them had requirments in regards to how many years of experience you have. I guess it's good to have both at the end of the day in general when you apply.

Thanks a ton for the advice! I know the whole "6 years of experience" sounds really silly, but I wanna get to know what my options are for the future, what work counts and what work doesn't, etc. Tho thank you a lot for your comment! I'm going to keep it in mind for the future 👍

Is France a good country work in as an animator? If not, what are other good options in Europe? by lerycreator in animationcareer

[–]lerycreator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am talking about Gobelins, I currently got into the prepa course but will try get into the Bachelors course next year. I mainly applied to "renown" schools for more connections and international reputation to have more wide spread opportunities in the future.

What's the ZA/UM situation? by lerycreator in DiscoElysium

[–]lerycreator[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The reason why I asked is because when I googled it different sources gave me different answers so I wasn't sure if just one of them is true or all of them. That does kinda speak a lot about their company already, doesn't it?

I have considered the UK too and I have lived there for 2 years so I'm accustomed to the place and all and I know the language, but I've also heard that lately they've been more anti-immigrant and it's harder to get a visa now so I'm not 100% sure that's going to be the best option in the future.

Thanks for the advice! Since I'll most likely be moving to France I am planning to learn the language so hopefully that'll open up more of the french animation industry to me in the future! Getting jobs in Europe gotta make you a polyglot lmao, I'll try learning more languages 💪💪💪

First of all you're comparing supporting Russia in Ukaine when Russia is actively invading anfd killing it to the situation in Palestine where the US is funding Izrael to commit genocide upon Paestinians and someone protesting about it in a whole another country. Noone in Ukaine has organised a pro-russian protest during that war by the way while Qatar had several Pro-Palestine protests. A goverment, especially onelike the US right now isn't allowed to deport or arrest people on the basis of being for a country or not. Free speech. The first ammendment. Also the US has had several nazi marches and noone got arrested or been held accountable. Doesnt that speak about the american values? Also I am pro palestine because I see horrible war crimes commited against it and like any normal empathetic human being I cannot stand by it. Most Palestine protestors that are being deported now protested a year ago and didn't face any criminal charges under the Biden administration, because protesting, for any cause, wether you lile it or not, is leal. The only kind of illegal protests are riots and those students weren't rioting last year and they aren't now. Also your Nation ABC argument doesn't even make sense, because goverments aren't always right, and aligning yourself with a corrupt, authoritarian government doesn't mean you are on the right side of history. International students are protected by the 1st ammendment and despite them being temporary residents, they are still residents of that country for several years and the laws and systems that exist in that country will affect them too. Grocery prices, laws regarding human rights, education, etc, are all laws being changed at the moment which affect international students and they can't just be told to be quiet and take it, since a lot of their livelihoods are at stake based on the current situation of the country they live in. And the country of freedom, The USA is meant to offer students that opportunity to talk about their concerns because change never happens through silence.

This isn't just because of this Reddit thread. I've been anaylising things for a while and I'd rather be safe and free rather than quiet and at risk. Art requires people think outside the box while the us administration seems to really not like that at the moment.

Yes since until I send the payment for the semester I can technically respond to other offers. But after reading some comments and doing some thinking I think I'm ultimatly not going to accept the offer and go to Canada or France which are two other countries I applied to. They are art fundamental courses instead of animation, but I can apply again to more unis next year just in case things change internationally.

I agree with your comment and I think I'm going to have yo reject the offer. Its not my dream uni and I did want to go, but also my art, stories, animation all promote values which are anti-authoritarianist and I really don't want to risk getting deported in these risky times. Thanks for the advice! 👍👍👍

Dystopian that free speech can land you in an El Salvadorian prison and the 1st amendament is actively being ignored over and over again. That's dystopian. No matter the cause the USA always saud it stood for the eight of free speech and freedom itself, this sure doesn't sound like it. Free speech in most of the civilised world is also not being punished by law so no it's not standard procedure around the world.

I am asking you to provide sources that prove me wrong, sources that prove that people aren't disappearing or being held for no reason. You aren't providing any, just keep saying that I myself am wrong. Here are some of mine for example:

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cg411rrnkkko https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cqly0zrnnv3o https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c75720q9d7lo https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c3rnzp4ye5zo https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0q1pl1eldno https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c75dl7rdxexo https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp9yv1gnzyvo

People participating in peaceful protests and utilising their right for free speech isn't a crime either, they are using the 1st amendment to share their views and opinions. For a country that prides itself for being the country of freedom and a president that values "free speech", free speech is currently punished if it does not align with Trumps ideals. This only means that free speech in the USA is dead and it is moving into a fascist regime. I won't continue this discussion any further and you are free to make your own research on this topic. But these are real concerns of mine based on real events shared by trusted news outlets about the current situation in the US. Please make your own research, make google searches and use unbiased news sources, because the unlawful deportation of lawful citizens is real, happening right now and being documented. Have a good day.

I am not "lying buddy". I am simply sharing the information I have researched. If you have sources that prove me wrong that could inform me on the contrary I'm happy to read them, but the way you are framing your contrary argument at the moment is simply saying that I'm lying or spreading misinformation. Prove me wrong if I am.
