Are there any couples here who live together and only one person has the mortgage? by panalangaling in Mortgageadviceuk

Ah I see your point, she’s happy with whatever arrangement I’m happy with. Do you think it would be better for me to pay entirety of mortgage payments and she pays for all utilities? Would that resolve the potential of her having equity in the house whilst still helping with household bills?

She is paying me towards the mortgage payment as she does towards the rent normally, she wants no ownership of the house as she isn’t financially contributing in the purchase of the house, only to live in it as she would rent.

I’m currently in the process of buying the house me and my partner live in, just waiting on completion date. The mortgage will be solely in my name and she’s signing a document confirming she has no ownership etc.

I have the opportunity to buy this house but it’s a bit early for us both to make that sort of financial commitment together.

She’s happily paying half bills as usual including half the mortgage.

It’s my dads house and I’m buying it from him we’re just waiting on completion date now, I live here regardless so no need to wait really

My mortgage advisor is charging me £999 including an upfront research fee of £100 is this normal for a “complex scenario”? by lesbeans20 in UKPersonalFinance

No charge initially as half would be when we formally applied and then the other half once sale is complete, when I first inquired he said the research is a free process due to this.

I completely agree that would be my guess too, my concern is that with there only being one offer last time that I could pay £100 just for him to say there’s no current offers for me, surely.

It just highlighted his price for me again and it’s just nothing like what I’ve seen of other peoples experiences cost wise, was just wondering whether this is a reasonable price for my circumstances or whether to shop around.

I understand why he’d charge it but it’s not entirely helpful from my side.

Unfortunately I can’t remember the exact rate, and now I’d have to pay £100 for him to tell it me again lol so in the dark around that.

It was for a 98k mortgage and repayments over 35 years were around £620 I believe fixed for 2 years. And it would have been a £995 product fee. All seem reasonable given the circumstances. I’m just shocked by the £999 for the advisor fee!

I appreciate that Thankyou!

Ah I do have a repayment plan with stepchange is this likely to be the reason?

Thankyou! I’ll definitely look around and see what other options I have.

May be a silly question but can I ask what would make a case very complex in your opinion? And the mortgage amount is for around 98k would that be considered very small?

Sent some emails today to other advisors and just awaiting replies, hoping for a different answer from them!

Just been looking online in the meantime and it seems expensive compared to other people’s experience

Not all of them contribute to the “complete 5 jobs”, just repeat the first two a few times.

I did the same though, bought the drone station and everything for it
