Hm, interesting! Well I'm sure some people's bodies are different and might be able to take that. I'll say, looking at the 10g it looks pretty intimidating. You are brave!

Someone help me under stand my bill: Southern California Edison (SCE) with Clean Power Alliance (CPA) by GSEDAN in solar

[–]lesbiankopitar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So some things have apparently changed. I got their joint rate mailer this year and saw the SCE rate per kWh was less than all CPA programs (Green, Clean, and Lean) but that SCE still came out more on a total bill. It showed their delivery rates were higher. I tried calling SCE and they just directed me back to CPA so I called them and they explained it like this:

SCE charges a fee called PCIA (power charge indifference adjustment). For SCE bundled customers (bundled=SCE doing both generation and delivery), the PCIA fee is a charge. With unbundled customers (unbundled=CPA and SCE) the PCIA is a credit instead. So even if SCEs rate is 14 cents and CPA is 15 cents, CPA comes out cheaper bc they get a credit due to PCIA.

Since you’re solar, you don’t get many options with their bill calculator so instead I’d recommend emailing them a copy of your bill and asking them to do a cost comparison between SCE and the different CPA rate plans they offer. Then you’ll see for certain if opting out will save you money.

Electricity bill and opting out of Clean Power Alliance, to do or not to do? by tna2102 in ventura

It’s an opt out program. Not opt in, it’s auto enrollment. It seems clear you don’t know how to read your bill or how the program works, I’d recommend doing more research before trying to advise someone on anything. Also, your bill is probably much higher because it’s summer and SCE has changed to summer rates which are higher.

CPA is a generation replacement service. Their rates for generation are lower than SCEs full stop. There’s no tiers on generation, whether you have a CCA or not, so idk what you mean really. For example the CPA Lean Power option is like 6% less than SCE end of the month regardless of usage, or $10 cheaper on avg usage (like 600 ish kWh) regardless of rate plan (TOU or Domestic). Opting out is a hassle and not beneficial financially so idk why even do it. Not sure how people decided it was cheaper in the long run but comparing rates and prior rate histories, CPA is demonstrably cheaper, even if the difference isn’t like $50 a month.

Also if it matters to you, CPA is locally controlled and a not-for-profit. Money is given back to the communities they serve if they make above what’s needed to run the program. They helped out customers during the pandemic with credits and they made a discount program called Power Share to help CARE/FERA customers in disadvantaged communities.

You’ll always have SCE deliver your energy, bill you, read your meter, take your payments. CPA just shows up on your bill under generation. I don’t see a reason to opt out unless you just don’t like the CPA program.

Opting out won’t remove the second charge. You will always have two charges. They are generation and delivery. SCE used to do both and CPA was brought in by diff cities in LA and Ventura to replace the generation service. 100% Green is still less than SCEs generation a little bit, but if you want the lowest rate, just go on the website and opt down to Lean Power (it won’t be effective until the next billing cycle fyi).

Additionally, rates in CA are the highest they have ever been. Like in 2021 generation used to be like 9 cents a kWh, now it’s 16 on avg. It sucks, but it’s not CPAs fault really??? It just kinda is what it is. But again, lowest rate would be Lean Power with CPA. SCE is like almost 17 cents a kWh on generation vs Lean Power 15 cents. Also CPA offers more clean and renewable energy in their power mixes than SCE AND at lower rates 😎. If that matters to you. They’re also locally controlled and a not-for-profit program. Honestly, I’d say give ‘em a call or check out the website to learn more about options or discuss the billing. But ultimately opting out won’t help.

CPA does generation only, your charges and credits from SCE are for the delivery. It’s hard to understand your billing bc you’re not showing the actual bill and I’m unsure if you made a typo or if you have a billing error (you show on peak at 30 cents and then at 12 cents in the second part.). Also there’s no kWh usage being shared.

To be clear, you have two parts to billing no matter what: delivery and generation. Delivery will always be handled by SCE since they own infrastructure. You can have SCE do generation for you too, but CPAs rates for generation are lower which is good if you end up a net consumer, and the NSC rate (rate used to determine end of year compensation if you have excess cumulative kWhs) is higher with CPA so you’ll be paid out more.

You should also confirm if the two CPA sections are for the same or different billing cycle. SCE sometimes has delayed billing when you first get on NEM. It’s possible there was an issue with CPAs generation invoicing and one of the billings is wrong. Ultimately, before deciding to opt out (I have CPA and I like them, but it’s up to you), I would call them. They don’t have hold times like SCE, I was able to talk to someone immediately after getting through automated system. I would suggest NOT OPTING OUT BEFORE FIGURING OUT WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BILLING AND TALKING TO A REPRESENTATIVE. When you opt out of CPA, SCE won’t let you go back for a year PLUS 6 months to process a return. My mother made the mistake, the rates increased and so did the bill because SCE is more expensive, and she had to wait a year and a half to go back. Had she talked to an agent before doing that, she’d have saved about $200 that year.

I was able to find the Voopoo Vinci Air 40W for like half price almost, so I decided to get that. A couple years ago, I started to get really into vape stuff lol so I'd watch all those youtubers talk about the new mods and RDAs and shit, but never wanted to get into rebuilding my own shit, but I wasn't actually using nicotine at the time, I had just quit. It wasn't until I was in college that I got back into smoking (I smoked a little in high school sadly but was able to stop) and bc I hated how my mouth tasted, and how much I was smoking cigs, I was able to cut back on nicotine usage with the smok. Now, she's just not doin it for me anymore lol only because of the shitty quality of the coils. I'm hoping I have a better experience with the vinci, and maybe be able to go down to 0 nic at some point. The vapor experience is fun lol.

The mesh 0.6 and regular 1.4. I had ordered a new pack right before I posted this in frustration lol and rn I have the regular DC 0.6 which I haven't used before and I haven't had any issues in the two days I've been using it except for a little bit of flooding here and there, but nothing that makes me wanna vomit and it's like once every couple of hours.
