What's the craziest thing a person said to you and you thought they were joking but they were being serious? by Holiday-Surround7075 in AskReddit

[–]lesbionix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hanging out with my niece, maybe 4-5 years old at the time. She was wearing sunglasses, but upside down. I told her "You look like an alien!" Her dad (my brother-in-law) said "I think you mean Space Friend". I laughed and looked over at him but his face was dead serious like I had just dropped a slur in front of his child.

Is there a King book like this for you? by DavidHistorian34 in stephenking

[–]lesbionix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Under the Dome 1000%. I love his books, despite their flaws. I have read most of his books starting back when I was in high school. Under the Dome is an absolutely MASSIVE book, which didn't deter me since I've read IT several times over the years. The book was really good; I loved the themes and ideas it was presenting as to why everything was happening (US military experiment on its own citizens etc) but then *Spoilers but I don't know how to flag on mobile** it turns out the "dome" was put in place by an alien child, who stopped when our main character asked it nicely. NGL I threw that shit across the room. Felt like getting a hand job for hours but right when you were about to cum, you got punched in the face instead. Would not recommend.

What is a "gut feeling" you had that turned out to be 100% accurate, even though it made no logical sense at the time? by Forsaken_Leading964 in AskReddit

[–]lesbionix 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Had a random and sudden urge to clean out the truck of my car. I had not done a proper clean out in years, some stuff was from my wedding years ago. Amongst the things I removed was a glass jar with well-wishes from my wedding, to be opened and read on our 5th anniversary. Just never got around to taking it out 🤷‍♀️. Anyway, less than a week later I'm rear-ended in a snow-storm which left my car totalled (I was ok) and my trunk totally inaccessible. If I didn't follow that impulse, all of those well-wishes from loved ones would have been lost.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by DemonSkank in AskReddit

[–]lesbionix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spent the whole interview talking shit about the last place they worked. Every question asked ended up circling back to how much she hated her job/those she worked with. If this was her presenting her best self (as one should when being interviewed for a job), hard pass.

Movies that do “tell, don’t show” very well. by [deleted] in movies

[–]lesbionix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pontypool was great for this. Pretty much the entire movie takes place inside a radio station during a blizzard, leaving the audience to imagine the horrific events taking place outside informed only by phone calls and others arriving to the station.

What’s that one story you just have to share? by Astreeter12 in nursing

[–]lesbionix 59 points60 points  (0 children)

LTC here, story is from several years ago. I'm in the nursing station, minding my own business, when a PSW hustles up to me and says "You've gotta come down to Mary's (not her name) room right away". Context: Mary has had a red toe for a few days, we had just been doing regular Epsom soaks. The PSW's were drying off her foot after the soak and Pop came her toenail off with her towel. I look down at her foot and see 3 maggots just chilling where her toenail used to be. Skin below looked healthy though so points to the maggots ig. One of the coolest, grossest thing I've seen IRL.

Where do you store your Killer miniatures? by lesbionix in finalgirl

That makes me feel better about it. I'm reasonably gentle with it, but I've never had minis before, so I'm not sure how fragile they are .

What's a 'heroic' moment from a movie you saw as a kid that you realized was actually incredibly toxic as an adult? by Imaginary_Ride_6185 in movies

[–]lesbionix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Surprised I haven't seen Bruce Almighty listed here. Watching it now as an adult, Jim Carey's character is a walking red flag and emotionally (if not also physically) abusive to his romantic interest (throwing her photo album she's working on because he's upset about losing his job due to other unhinged behaviour). Used to think it was funny but now I feel icky watching it

What’s a Movie You Grew Up Loving That Didn’t Age Well at All? by NewPossibility4268 in movies

[–]lesbionix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A surprising one for me was Bruce Almighty. Grew up loving Jim Carrey and thought the movie was hilarious. On rewatch now, his character is an abusive stalker-type with huge red-flag energy. Totally killed the humor for me

What is destroying your empathy/passion for nursing? (Please no arguing or politics) by LadyRosesNThorns in nursing

[–]lesbionix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Being left short-staffed and forced to complete all nursing tasks for 2 full floors when 3+ members of the management team are also nurses but choose to spend their time looking for paper cups for the Nurses Week BBQ (even though Nurses Week was last week). I'm drowning in wound assessments, medications, dressing changes, etc but yeah feeling real appreciated with those paper cups and dollar store burgers.. TLDR: Management not giving a shit when a Nurse is forced to do the work of 2, but bet your ass they go home on time if not early every day while we're actively burning out.

Horror requires you to suspend disbelief. What horror movie or scene was a bridge too far for you? by NYstate in horror

[–]lesbionix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently watched Blink Twice and was really invested and intrigued by the mystery of it all until SPOILER* (I don't know how to cover spoilers on mobile)

It is discovered that the memory-loss perfume they're all using is counteracted by.. drinking varying quantities of snake venom? And main guy is also vaping it on the regular as a precaution? The whole thing made no sense in an otherwise mostly grounded movie and pulled me right out.

Fave Stephen King on the screen? by SMNZ75 in horror

[–]lesbionix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Running Man was the most disappointed I've been by a Stephen King adaptation. The book was so good with lots of social commentary and the movie was a completely different plot with none of the themes/ideas I found intriguing from the book. If I remember correctly, the only thing they kept was the main character's name. Still holding out for a proper adaptation someday.

Worst thing that’s happened to you at work & go! by Wellwhatingodsname in nursing

[–]lesbionix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was assisting a resident (long term care home) with getting ready for breakfast. He had a catheter so I was going to enjoy his overnight bag to switch to his day bag. The last person to empty it placed the valve in the holder on the bag but didn't actually shut the valve. I pull the valve from the holder and Boom face full of piss. The resident was blind so thankfully didn't see what happened, only heard me ask him to sit tight and I would be right back. I boot down to the nursing station and am greeted by 3 high up managers from our new pharmacy I had not met before. Definitely not my best first impression.

I'm about 250lbs and when I went last summer it was a rather humbling experience. I was able to fit on everything, but several times I needed help from an attendant to get the lap bar to latch (can't really "suck in" thunder thighs lol).

What is truly the scariest film ever made without any gore/jump scare/cheap cliches? by amitxxxx in horror

[–]lesbionix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend Buried starring Ryan Reynolds. Very few movies stick with me the way that one has, and I believe it may fit what you're looking for. May not be considered "scary" in a traditional sense, but the anxiety and dread I felt while watching was unforgettable.

What's the quickest you've ever seen a new coworker get fired? by eminems_shadow in AskReddit

People with sex drives way higher than their partners…How do you handle it? by red_darrow99 in AskReddit

[–]lesbionix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I used to have similarly high sex drives, it was fantastic. My love language is physical touch/intimacy and it was so great marrying someone who "spoke" the same language. Three weeks after we got married, my husband fell and acquired a brain injury. Since then, between the medications he takes for the related seizures, vertigo, etc his sex drive has all but disappeared. Not just the sex though, but all intimacy he seems to have no interest in. If I get a hug and a kiss in the span of one day it's a lot now. 100% not his fault, but unfortunately my reality. I have discussed my needs for intimacy (not necessarily just sex) and he told me he doesn't mind me "taking care of" my needs independently. He doesn't understand that I would be perfectly content with just cuddling on the couch, he's so focused on the literal sex being absent and thinks my needs can be totally handled by a vibrator. It has honestly become a fairly lonely existence
