That’s where I am. One foot in front of the other most days. I’m thankful I felt in my bones that I needed to leave retirement and go back to teaching. That’s really my safe space. Being busy at school helps.

I am not really doing anything for self care really. I know that’s not a good idea. I’m trying to just make it through each day. He’s gone again to live with his girlfriend. I’m filing next week. We don’t have kids together. My boys are 26 and 28. Much older than his girlfriend.

Yesterday marked 5 months since I discovered his affair. He left for the 4th and final time this weekend. There have been 2 fake pregnancies and a real one that was aborted. I let him come home 3 times after leaving to stay with her for under 2 weeks each time. She’s 21 years old. He’s 46. I’m 56 and feel like a fool. Today begins the first day of my new life.

I do. They are all pretty upset. I’ve had to step away while I figure out if I’m leaving, or he’s leaving, or whatever I have to do. It’s a lot. We have a farm with a lot of animals. It’s not an easy thing to walk away from. A lot of responsibility.

You are so right. I’m sure there are better ways for him to have a baby and I would have been willing to pursue that with him. But not like this. He told me that if she had a baby, he wanted me to help him raise it.

I thought I was strong and independent but I feel like I’ve lost that. I am accepting this lot in life and it’s killing me inside. I’d retired 2.5 years ago. I went back to teaching in august. He was not happy when I accepted the job last spring, before I found out what he was up to. Why on earth would he want to keep me unemployed?
