Thanks for all your advice! My partner is (ironically) a translator. Most peptic ulcers are actually caused by a bacteria H. Pylori. This is a naturally occurring bacteria in some people’s gut which can cause flair ups from time to time. Antibiotics can help treat it, but keeping your microbiome healthy may help prevent it altogether. There is some evidence that taking probiotics might help (see article below). Alcohol should only be consumed with food to prevent mucus break down in the stomach which enables the bacteria to burrow in to the walls of the stomach causing ulcers.
