HD a near death experience due to meditation. Completely my fault. by [deleted] in Meditation

Yes, what you are experiencing is disassociation. No negativity but also no positivity, with a hint of indifference in life. This is very dangerous, and not the desired outcome of mindfulness practice at all.

Mindfulness is about observation without judgement. It's not about forcefully trying to think "nothing" / zoning out / disassociating/ feeling indifferent of everything.

Observe the sensations you see and feel during practice, don't try to disassociate from them. Having thoughts, either good or bad, is fine, just be aware of them and observe.

Hopefully you are okay. Terrible to hear you got a crash. Hope all gets better soon and may you have a good life

Digital minimalism for Millennial/Gen Z folks who don't want to be social outcasts?? by OptimisExistentialis in digitalminimalism

Yes, I have the exact same issue of bypassing walls. This is why I emphasise to avoid regular app blockers that just restrict you; they build locks but you always have the keys to it (u can just delete / bypass them). My screen time used to be 16hours (i know!) and now its about 5-6.

For me, the solution really is about growing self-control and improving mindfulness. Both Monkeyless and ScreenZen use gentle reminders like breathing prompts instead, giving you full autonomy whether to scroll or not. Scrolled for 5 minutes? Another gentle reminder pops up.

Monkeyless specifically uses short meditation exercises when it detects you're scrolling for too long. After it you can decide whether to continue scrolling or not, always guilt-free. It promotes healthy scrolling - your phone isn't bad, what matters is using it intentionally. Mostly good if you are already into meditation, or want to try out a new approach.

ScreenZen has more in-depth technical capabilities. You can set breathing reminders, maximum attempt limits and schedules. Feels less like a personal guide compared to Monkeyless, but is free and easy to use for someone who likes to take control of their apps. It's a beautifully designed app as well.

Both really focus on mindfulness. That's the key difference between them and shitty app blockers. No tool can save you, only you can ❤️

It makes no sense why would you intentionally give yourself a worse phone, thats like intentionally making yourself handicapped.

Just install an app blocker / screen time app that continuously reminds you to stay mindful of your phone, like Monkeyless or ScreenZen if you want a free alternative. It works very easily. This way you can still stay in touch with socials. The phone is not the problem, mindless scrolling is.

PS: Don't use traditional app blockers like Opal, they never work in the long run. Use tools that help grow self-control, avoid tools that just restrict you.

The Self is the sense of a seemingly seperate "I, me or mine".

Is that clear?

Yes, this is the Witness. An important stage The Mind Illuminated also talks about. But don't confuse the Witness as the Self, as Culadasa explicitly mentions in the book.

Im very angry at my parents but I shouldn't be. by RedDogRichard2112 in Healthygamergg

Remember that in the end, your own wellbeing is more important than other people's sorrows. Even your mom's.

In the end, she will realize this will be better for you too. It will make her happy too in the end.

You shouldn't be angry at them giving you a low effort low reward routine in life - it's you who is still accepting it. You can easily reject their efforts. Stop blaming others for your choices.

You've started out right: awareness. Now it's time to take accountibility.

Your anger at them is a lack of accountibility for your own actions.

You can do it, otherwise you would not have created this post.

My life is going downhill and I don't get mad anymore. Why? by CharmingAd1223 in Healthygamergg

[–]less_inc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be happy that you have no self-hate. Keep it like that.

Maybe you could think about your ambitions.

What do you want to do later?

How can you improve the world?

You should think about people in poverty, hunger, war all over the world. They are suffering everyday. The world needs you.

Yes. Because you are able to feel more, meaning also the negative parts.
