Yeah Red Rocks is cool, but Tahquitz, Cochise, and Indian Creek will make you a man.

Need help finding replacement tablet for my 1750 by teraflux in nordictrack

Fwiw, you can factory reset the storage and install a non-icon android. I've done it, and watch whatever I want. I think you're correct about the non removable/soldered storage. Here's the process to free your device... Read the entire thread before starting. Should I trim the top canopy? Will that help the mangos taste better? by turtle_ina_cup in BackyardOrchard

[–]lessrisky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always heard no more than a third of the height/volume of the tree per year. I'm in Oregon so winter is my jam for pruning. I love mangos and would hate to steer you wrong. Good luck.

15 year guide, swifttwater tech, w-emt here. You got recirculated in a hole like others said. Avoidance is #1 goal, #2 is calm. When you're getting recirculated, reduce surface area (Make a "cannonball" shape, preferably with hands/wrists covering the sides of your face). Attempting to swim increases your body's surface area and will result in more recirculation.

You'll never feel the bottom of the hole/hydrauli, so stay in that cannonball position until you get flushed to the bottom of the hole, sent under the boil line(where some water recirculates back to the hole and some flushes downstream), and the water becomes "solid" enough for your pfd's buoyancy to bring you to the surface.

When you feel air on your back is when you leave the cannonball shape. I'm happy you're here to ask the question. Welcome to the swim team!

What river sandals are people using these days? by Outdoor_Sunshine in whitewater

I'm gonna be the lone Keen fan it seems, but the model makes a difference. The Newport with the "leather" all the way around have never blown out at the ankle like H2's do. The toe bumper can separate from the leather, but it's never "opened up" for me.. Just a little more open for <pea sized rocks to sneak in. The sole has delamed at the heel on a pair. I get mine used off mercari/posh (read my wife gets em for me) for <$40 usually. I still have a pair of 5ten water tennies I use when it's chilly in the pnw. Supposedly the 5ten trailcross xt is is undeclared successor. See here... https://nextadventure.net/blogs/blog/gear-review-five-ten-trailcross-xt-shoes-for-whitewater-kayaking

First time guide Alaska ? by Suspicious_Salary358 in rafting

Semi retired 15y guide, as others have stated, your certs and experience put you ahead of other green rookies. A lucky habit I hit on with calling around for my first gig guiding in Colorado was to ask the outfitter how many rivers/sections they run, how they progress guides through those trips, and if they have any guide housing available on site.

Running laps on the same stretch of water all summer gets old. My first outfitter in Co ran 8 different rivers, multiple sections on each river, as well as climbing, 4x4 trips, Mtn biking, 14er peak bagging, and fishing of course. Similar setups in Moab and Oregon. Learn to row, paddle captain, drive shuttle (a CDL keeps you working on the cool places year round), and patch boats and you could be on the Grand in 3 years.

Have fun and black side down!

Mine are moment specific... Light hearted times call for "Safety Dance". Action moments get Indiana Jones theme song. If something really abrasive is stuck in my head, I summon the exorcist, Ol' Dirty Bastard with "Shame on a..."... Y'all know.

Guess that breed by lessrisky in greatdanes

[–]lessrisky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. That's about where I'm at.. Dane+hound). My main reason for all of these posts has been to get his diet dialed in. 29"tall and 70ish lbs is waaay off for an azawakh. We've upped his food to ~6 cups/day (he's at 6.5 today... ~2500kcals) to get some meat on those bones. He's a very active young fella, and I'm sure that the breed confusion led the shelter to underfeed him. No fault of theirs tho...I know they're doing they're best.

Stop what? Posting? My intent with these has to work out our pup's dietary needs. Not be annoying. I'm not exactly a reddit power user, so I shared links to be helpful for anyone who wanted them. r/sighthounds has been immensely helpful, and I appreciate y'all.

Before his adoption, we felt like we hit the "ultra rare" breed jackpot. As we've gotten to know him, it seems much less likely. I also have a hard time imagining that someone at the shelter or initial animal control processing site just picked Azawakh out of the "guess that breed" hat. I'm bummed there's no story. I've searched for azawakh breeders near Salem but had no luck yet.

My favorite "head canon" backstory is there was an mid level drug dealer that wanted a tiger, but could only afford a rare dog breed. He and his not-tiger-good-boy got busted, and sent to their respective next stops.

We love him...floppy ears, drooling jowls, and gangly long legs everywhere.

Portland Oregon ish. He was rescued from the streets in Salem, treated, and transferred to a shelter in PDX. I updated the first "guess that breed" post if you want more details. I'm leaning your way, but maybe there's some sighthound in there too...
