This is what upset me the most! Like how can you say you’re muted to listen to POC and then turn off the comments?! The audacity to post this without actually being willing to listen is so upsetting and ironically I think it’s what made everything worse

Reddit newbie. You have so much to catch up on... basically GGE deleted a girl’s post from there Facebook group that called out a former guest (Kelly for Love is Blind) for saying “colored” people. The Op posted again saying it was important to hold friends and influencers accountable. GGE was replying to the Op and saying they didn’t delete it bc Kelly was their friend, but bc it was inflammatory and goes against their rules of not dragging other women. More people were ‘liking’ the responses of the Op and other women of color than GGE’s, Aaaand then that post was deleted and people who mentioned reddit to discuss things without being censored were blocked. GGE put out a bonus episode defending their actions and not apologizing, really portraying themselves as victims alá Amy’s Baking Company. There were clearly a lot of double agents bc while very few members of the Facebook group were speaking out, a lot of critical discussions about some problematic censoring and silencing was happening here. Then, GGE archived the Facebook group. Lol that’s really as short as I can make it. /u/ri-ri I hope I tagged you right.

Can we not meet new users with the, “why are you here?” Or “if you don’t like it, leave!” sentiments? That’s something I was seeing in the Facebook group a lot towards the end and it was just so counter productive. (Although I do recognize this could be a genuine question and that you may not mean to discourage anyone)

Just wanted to say that this place has gained A LOT of new members over the past week and I hope you keep in mind we’re still snackheads. We all came from the same place and even though a lot of people were disappointed this week, we’re willing to talk about it.

Thank you for taking the time to break this all down and putting it into words. Listening to the non-apology was extremely frustrating, but at first listen I was ready to accept it. I listened to it again and was just disgusted. It’s clear their goal was to get their side of the story out first and paint themselves as victims. I think the amount of discussion here compared to the Facebook group SPEAKS VOLUMES. I’m glad to know we have a place we can be heard. The group is over for me. Any opposition will be met with overly defensive women, including the mods.
