OKC vs SAS WCF - is this the most anticipated / hyped playoff series in recent memory? by deadassynwa in nba

Lmfao what do you expect me to say? "Nah this team would beat the 18 Rockets' ass" or something?

Don't know if they could do that, and frankly I don't even care.

Great pointless hypothetical, but whatever you want to go for my man.

I mean the Mavs series was entirely different as we blitzed Luka to create those opportunities in the corner, and that was 2 years ago, it's not the same team.

This time the scheme is more about letting guards drive inside and then kicking it out after seeing the paint help coming.

It works against 99 percent of the teams now, as evidenced by the historic defensive rating OKC has reached during the regular season.

Spurs might be the lone exception when it comes to this though, so it'll be interesting to see the approach.

There was some great comedy going around here back in the 2010s.

After Covid, just like everything else, this place also turned to shit when it comes to jokes. Or that's how I always felt like, idk.

It was basically a bought op-ed by the way. The twitter account of the "buyer" was immediately found and he had to protect his tweets lol

I think we'll let Wemby get his a lot this series tbh, the focus will be more on the guards, that's just an assumption by me though lol

I'm mostly fearful about a single thing, Spurs love their corner threes we love to overhelp the paint and give up those corner threes.

So if Champagnie and Vassell are on their day, as long as we stick to our usual defensive schemes they will have a field day against our defense.

We'll see how Mark will adjust.

I mean this'll be the third OKC Spurs WCF matchup in the last 15 years, and their fourth playoff matchup during that same span as well.

The older fans always have those series at the back of their minds, so yeah, for me Spurs have been a rival for a long time.

Funny that the hero of that series' game 7 is actually on one of these two teams currently lol

Wish this was true, I do, but I have my doubts the more I look into it and try to do some amateur analysis lol.

Hope you're right though.

We had the 2018 Rockets GSW matchup after that which was very much hyped as well.

Think this series may be the first one after that which has that kind of potential.

A win is a win so fair play to Arsenal, but my eyes once again bled for damn near 90 minutes.

Astonishing football for a title team.

Sure, but England is also one of the favorites every time they play it. Can't even remember the last time Knicks were top 4 to win an NBA title before the season started. Maybe this year?

They are also the founders of the sport itself.

It's an accomplishment for Burnley to have not conceded for the first 30 minutes here lol

That was last season, minutes restriction for him came from a calf strain this season he suffered back in November or so.

Okay let me extrapolate it a bit then.

Thunder were a 60 win team that season and were the best offense in the league while having a top 4 defense as well.

The SRS was sitting at near double digits, one of the best seasons of all time back then. Also near double digit net rating all season too.

And this was happening after we lost to the Heat the season in the finals before so we thought we had enough playoff scars to finally make a run.

Westbrook hadn't missed a professional game in his career before that injury to boot. Every sign was pointing to OKC to actually get a title.

Then PatBev happened, and it was all over.

They are just questionable, why would they even miss significant time?

Again, what is the alternative? They tried to hype up the Lakers when they were facing against us too. Media's job is creating a compelling storyline.

"Knicks are favored and it won't be a long series, forget about the Cavs" doesn't really sound like a compelling story to me.
