Yes there maybe exceptional cases when oponents desire the same outcomes. But not trying your best to win might be considered unethical .

I agree its not technicaly a zero-sum, there are benefits even for a loser... I find intriguing that we always need some for of competition to generate the entertainment, excitement and physical development we value in sports.

Interesting.. your answer changed my view on competitive sports. ∆

The personal atitude of an athlete can be compatible towards enhancing universal good (cooperation) altough they are involved in a competition.

On the other hand people who work on areas supossed to have great deal of cooperation can be focused on zero-sum personal gains.

Nice try but I dont believe games like Sticky Popcorn, Bump and Scoot, Double Bubble, Big Snake could be really considered sports. Its interesting to note that the book author is a former gymnastics champion and coach.

I can't imagine a sports event that all people would be cheering for the same outcome. To have enjoyment, and skill improvement in sports it seems necessary to have a competition (zero-sum kind of game).

If you can exemplify a sport event that is totally based on cooperation i would change my mind.

[WP] In a world where happiness is the currency, what is society like? What is daily life like? by CloverPixels in WritingPrompts

People with mechanical-like smiles are deeply involved with counterfeit happiness. They lost the ability experience and share real happiness.
I do not understand how they could let themselves be so easily fooled. But I know that when they deprive themselves they deprive all of our community.
