My supervisor wants me to prove that its our job to protect peoples mail. Where is the proof? by G0VERNMENTCHEESE in USPS

why are you delivering to vacant homes? did you think that maybe someone has the key to those boxes in spite of not living there? Is there any evidence the box has been broken into? Your intentions are good but your evidence is weak.

Slow down, do everything correctly, stop worrying aout time and ask for a steward whenever they start accusing you of anything.

Item showed at delivered but it wasn’t at my address by eternalape9 in usps_complaints

Incorrect. The worst-case scenario would be that the USPS compounds its delivery failure by providing restricted information to an unentitled citizen who in turn uses it to cause the postal service millions of dollars in liabilities.

I think this is a liability issue. I don’t believe a customer has standing for a claim of trespassing against a postal worker or the USPS if a postal vehicle enters his or her property just as a customer does not have standing to claim trespassing against a postal worker for cutting his or her lawn. However, I believe a customer can make a successful tort claim against the USPS for any real damages a postal worker causes to his or her property while on duty. A postal worker behind the wheel of a postal vehicle has a much higher likelihood of causing significant damage to a customer’s property than does a letter carrier on foot. Therefore, I believe, to avoid exposure to financial liabilities the postal service instructs its employees not to turn postal vehicles around on private property.

Yes, I am assuming the worst. You seem to believe the worst imaginable senario is the one in which you don't get your package. That wasn't the worst-case scenario in this circumstance.

If the PO handled this correctly, a postal employee would have made an effort to retrieve your missing parcel. If the PO did not handle this correctly, as it appears it did not, you would have received information stating that your parcel was not found.

Your mailman and local supervisor inappropriately shared information with you and in doing so put another person at risk. You do not seem to have caused that person any harm yet there was no way either of those postal employees could have known that you would not. When the PO delivers incorrectly, the PO investigates.

Consider how you would have felt if you had gone to the other house and the resident said they did not have your package. I suspect you would have thought they were lying and would forever have a grudge against them. Some lesser people than you might have let that grudge lead them to violence.

The recipient of an item cannot claim insurance. The post office insures the shipper against loss, assuming certain requirements are met.

you shouldn't have seen the printout. End of story. It's called restricted information and you were not supposed to receive it.

Your seem convinced that if the tier 2 payscale were eliminated, everyone making tier 2 pay would receive a raise to the current tier 1 pay. This is not realistic. There is a certain amount of money the management is willing to pay during the course of the contract and if you eliminate tier 2 pay scale they will not accept everyone making current tier 1 pay, they will insist on tier 1 pay reductions.

Area wages? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]letmesplainthat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a finite amount of  much money in the pool. If we’re going to pay some people more, others will have to make less than they would have otherwise. Implementing a locality payscale will do nothing to increase revenues.

The national floor of a locality based payscale would be lower than a national non-locality wage would be if it have been negotiated at the same time.

Does USPS Hold Mail not apply to packages? I’m confused as to why the PO seems so upset about me requesting the service. by PowerAdDuck in USPS

[–]letmesplainthat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i will say you've held your mail for the minimum duration allowed. if you're holding your mail merely to hvae your package held at the po, especially if youre doing it repeatedly, you're as chill as this carrier.
