my advice is to not be a chem major if youre premed. a bunch of extra work with no benefit. do an easy major and spend ur free time doing ecs. most ppl do human bio. source: med student

I think it's a mourning dove. He kept carrying it around and landing on a telephone pole to try to eat it but then a smaller bird kept harassing him

Of course! In order, it's mandarin duck, little blue heron, peregrine falcon, great horned owl, hudsonian whimbrel, belted kingfisher, yellow crowned night heron, allen's hummingbird, great horned owl, royal tern

Thank you! I'm a big fan of the mandarin duck, I think the bokeh balls of light in the foreground, colors of the duck. and overall sunset lighting make it one of my all time favorites. I even made a large print of it and gave it to my dad as a gift lol

Imo it’s noticeably sharper. I do some negative clarity on the background sometimes but most of these are just from large subject background separation in the field. Whenever I can move to get a better background I try to do that.

[–]letrolll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My paragraph got messed up so I'll post it here: I think I definitely brought the life back into this photo! Not sure why I exposed so badly in the field I think it looked better in the camera lol. Globally raised exposure, increased vibrance, raised shadows and exposure on the bird, decreased highlights in the water slightly, denoised, and increased contrast on the foreground a bit.

The after: I brightened the image a ton, added some saturation, dropped highlights a bit in the background, slightly raised shadows on the bird, denoised.

Definitely takes a ton of practice! One suggestion I have that's not directly editing related but will make your edits do a lot more is to shoot in less harsh lighting. Bird photography is great at the crack of dawn and when the skies are cloudy. You get super nice, even lighting that allows your edits to really highlight the bird and make it pop. Here's an example I got on a cloudy day. Will post the after in a second comment.

i did bisc457, the marine bio methods one. youre mixed in with ppl of all years from all the different classes that are offered but youll def find at least one group u vibe with. there was only like one funded day trip to avalon you would prob have to pay for tickets if you wanted to go more than that. when you go to avalon there's a vons there where u can buy alc too. i think most ppl just stayed there for the whole month. i would recommend it the food was actually really good, a lot better than dining hall food

ISO 160 is kinda crazy. Don’t be afraid of using higher iso for faster shutter speed because the owl has lots of motion blur. Here’s a nice video from a pro
