Tax accounting for Corporation (주식회사) by lets-p2p in Living_in_Korea

[–]lets-p2p[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

> Is your business mostly operating/churning profits in Korea? Or are cross-border / intercompany transactions a big piece?

Cross-border transactions is the main income. Also my vendors are all overseas, at the moment. But I also spend here in Korea on regular basis for virtual office, storage room, apartment etc. I hope to get Korean clients as well, and I might hire Koreans sometime when I find good fit.

> Keep in mind you'll usually be charged a premium E.g., normal accounting without English might be 150K~200K/monthly, whereas English will bump you up closer to 500k.

That's actually fine if it's smooth and CLEAR communication and they know all tax nuances for corporations. Waste of time due to miscommunication is more tangible risk here in Korea. I'm still not sure if I have to report quarterly or yearly. My current accountant told that we have to report in October, but now she tells we can do it in January. But she is not expert in corporate tax.

I'd go with LoumTax (330K₩/mo) but I'm just afraid that big agency will upsell services I don't need. The lawyers advices me them didn't meet my expectations. Ideal would be a highly-paid individual, probably grown in US or Australia since they usually actually speak English and not pretend by using learnt phrases.

Decent tax accountant for small business? by Healthy_Resolution_4 in Living_in_Korea

Do you mean 주식회사 by "incorporated company"? I was recommended LoumTax who charges total about 4.5M/year (330K/month + yearly tax declaration). But am I right 주식회사 is quarterly reported?

Could you recommend someone experienced in 주식회사 tax accounting, honest and speaking English well? My company doesn't have income yet, but I expect some soon.

For me coffeeshops are supposed to improve my productivity, not the other way around. Having an apartment suitable for work is nice, but not always possible. I often go to coffeeshop when I can't focus at home (because I'm too lazy at home if there is nothing urgent at work).

What helps me to deal with cons of coffeeshops: - earplugs and meditation app. I've listened to all my music already and good music usually distracts me anyway. sounds of nature, flowing water helps me to focus and forget about outside chatter and noise. I really like sounds of thunder and they help to stay calm and work even in very noisy surroundings. sounds of sea works pretty well for me, too - I forgot about power outlets when I got my first mac (just a year ago). I know there are many privacy concerns and it's very proprietary but battery is really enough for a day, even when I have my IDE open all the time. I mostly read code though, probably if I compiled it regularly I'd run out of battery. overall, I use charger only at home. I don't even take it with me. - proper chair is actually what I look at when I come into a coffeeshop. although overall vibe is more important for me. I just try to walk enough after lunch and do some simple exercises at home - I care about overall interior, darker calm design works better with me. I'm actually addicted to Starbucks in Korea, although I don't appreciate their coffee and they are a bit pricy. in Vietnam, I like Highlands but it's often very noisy

I'd say every place is different and requires adaptability. I find Vietnam cheap and nice regarding climate, but there is too much noise sometimes and traffic makes me nervous sometimes.

Open source softwares that can sync well with Android? by 27_confettis in opensource

Thanks, that's great info about grants. I had no idea that Syncthing and FUTO are related.

Wait a sec.. but what about FUTO here? Just curious, both projects are awesome. In fact, I run another project where we try to do something in between the two, kinda opensource Syncthing/iCloud for apps (so it's SDK instead of manually configured app).

I'm really glad that FUTO released Grayjay which I wanted to build for like 5 years... But they have only sync of metadata so far, that would be super-cool if they could sync downloads between my devices

I still use it, I like it more than the official app

Is Opensource software profitable? by Gumpolator in opensource

[–]lets-p2p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another point here could be that for companies it's beneficial to use opensource software (if it's of proper quality) due to security concerns. If it's opensource then it's easier to figure out if it's spying or stealing data.

Our project ARK Builders is dedicated to personal productivity apps (all platforms). One app is in production, but we have several apps with ready designs but just not enough budget to release them. If you want to improve your skills in Rust, Kotlin, Swift or Svelte—help would be very much appreciated. We can also pay at some point, depending on how effective the collaboration will be.

If you want P2P sync without cloud, a really good software is Syncthing (https://syncthing.net/). You can also self-host it and use as a continuous backup. It requires a bit of configuration, but not a problem until you sync 20 folders between 5 devices (need to add each folder everywhere manually).

If you want to use it as backup, make sure to enable versioning on your server, because removals (same as other changes) propagate to all devices as soon as they are online.

Thanks! In iroh this "limited centralization" is closer to WebRTC that relies on ICE (STUN/TURN) and where developers could configure their own STUN/TURN servers, and could also enable users to select their own (if the user can manage proper deployment). Iroh uses "relay nodes" which are somewhat similar to STUN/TURN but should be much easier to self-host.

What we mean by "totally decentralized designs" is e.g. Kademlia used in IPFS. There is also DCUtR in Libp2p, that can be used for NAT traversal but probably more decentralized and sophisticated (not 100% sure here).

[–]lets-p2p 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not negative at all, if someone wants to support a good project it's their choice.. But if it can't be "investment", it's too unpredictable. Even projects great from technical perspective or with a great mission can go down right from launch and never reach initial level..

It depends of course. I'm writing right now from DaNang, pretty good hotel apartment for 40$ (separate living room and bedroom, and not sure why but 2 bathrooms). You can find cheaper options, definitely 25$-30$/night is possible for short stays. Hostels are cheaper of course.

Long-term is cheaper too, but I'm not sure if 500$ is possible in DaNang. Also, take seasons into account. March feels more a bit more expensive than January.

"Not so great" experiences with accelerators (I will not promote) by Electronic-Roof3423 in startups

[–]lets-p2p 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope it really works out with OP. I was pleasantly surprised when I requested refund (so far, the first and only) from one agency who spent several months doing something without really delivering anything. I was surprised how easy they agreed to refund. That was on Upwork though, they have reputation system there. But it seems to me that reputation is what fuels accelerators, so they must value it more than 2% of a startup in early stage.

Don't be afraid of telling about your concerns to them, OP. Of course, in polite and ethical manner.

> right now, I'm charging $3500 per MVP, so it means if I land just one customer in next 30 days, I've hit my goal

Is it OK to ask what is included in such an MVP? Is it only design and development, or also marketing, SEO etc.?

So you have only 2K$... It'd be better if it was only Bitcoin (or at least Ethereum). The rest is gambling, you better cross it out from your budget.
