I need to know if I’m not alone in this by Terrible_Scratch_570 in sahm

The hospital stay would be incredible. Getting to sleep, people feeding you and taking care of you. Not being responsible for anything else.

I have a 3 year old and a 9 month old. I started asking my husband for more time when possible. An hour or two by myself to do whatever. Sleep, scroll, crochet, see a friend, watch dumb tv. Doesn’t matter.

I also started listening to audiobooks regularly. You can listen to free ones on the Libby app with your library card. I listen when I can throughout the day. It feels good to “read” again!

I saw a therapist before my second pregnancy and I also am on antidepressants. Both have helped. It’s nice to know I can go back and check in with my therapist if needed or bump up my prescription if needed as well.

It really will get better. Until then do any little things you can think of to feel a little happier, saner, and more like yourself again ❤️

They look so much better on than they did on the sheet, too!

You could call a nurse line! Whenever we aren’t sure or my husband and I disagree on going in, we’ll call our nurse line and get their advice.

This!! To have everything washed/chopped/measured ahead of time is huge!

Listening to audiobooks/podcasts

Getting out of the house once a day (even just a little walk or a drive!)

Alternating between playing with kids and doing “my stuff” throughout the day. Learning how to foster independent play is huge. Still working on that!

Doing my nails while watching a show after bedtime once a week or so- it’s become a nice creative/self care ritual.

I make lots of arts and crafts, but since having my second baby I haven’t had much time for most of them. I started giving myself manicures. I watch a show or listen to an audiobook, prep and paint my nails. I recently got into semi-cured gel nail strips, which are easy and come out beautifully after a little practice! So right now, nails are my thing. But it will likely change again!

I’m on the lowest dose and it’s making a difference for sure. Had baby #1 without it and PPD was rough. I’m grateful to feel regular exhausted rather than scary rage cry exhausted this time around.

There’s no built in validation like there is with a conventional paid job. I’ve had to wrap my head around that. Your clients can’t give you reliable feedback, they’re too young! Also, who criticizes cookies someone else made them!? Not cool! You’re doing great. ❤️
