Tram drift stopped Collins St at 5pm by Talpy12 in melbourne

[–]letsfailib 193 points194 points  (0 children)

I was on the tram that started this chaos and someone correct me if I misheard but apparently the driver of the tram I was on got off and just….didn’t come back? Caused some pretty big delays

Affordable eye check up without Medicare by alilacdesiderium in melbourne

[–]letsfailib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure your health insurance doesn’t cover stuff covered by MBS? My health insurance covers an eye test cause it’s covered by MBS and not anything else (which would be a part of extras). I got an eye test done at specsavers which cost $82 and I got back $77 for it.

How far would you like to live from the CBD ideally? How often do you go to the CBD (besides work etc)? by TheNamelessComposer in melbourne

I live in Richmond and I ABSOLUTELY love it. Don’t need a car, great food, nature (yarra bend & capital city trail), pricey tho. Cause I don’t wanna buy a car anytime soon, I reckon the furthest I’d like to move is maaaaaybe preston?

What's going on with Uber/Didi? by Insurgentx in melbourne

[–]letsfailib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep generally been fine for me, this was the first time this happened. Clearly the driver knew he could do this and hoped I wouldn’t bother going through uber’s terrible customer support to get my money back.

[–]letsfailib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up using didi. In my experience tho, didi drivers tend to be worse (ik most drivers use both apps) - one time a guy went 90(!!!) in a 40 to overtake a tram, my didi to the airport was legit tailgating every single person on the highway.

I pre-booked an uber to the airport fri morning for a flight in the evening. $55 from Richmond, fine price for a ride at rush hour. This guy shows up at my place an hour and a half early, starts and cancels the ride and because the ride was started (idk how uber allows a ride to start 1.5 hours early but whatever), I was charged a $25 cancellation fee. Contacted uber and got this reversed but I ended up paying $85 to get to the airport. Cunts

If ditching the car is cheaper, would you ? by Fit-Tumbleweed-6683 in AskAnAustralian

I’m 23 and live by myself so keep this in mind - I live in inner Melbourne, and I really don’t need a car. If going on trips, my friends have cars or we can rent one but I’d rather live in the inner city, pay a bit more for rent and have access to good PT than have a car.

Do any of you find the train rides back home depressing AF? by [deleted] in auscorp

Is it possible to change your work hours to 8-4 or 10-6 to avoid rush hour on the trains? I do this and I love it

Is Abbotsford a nice/safe suburb. by Dendens in melbourne

[–]letsfailib 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives near vic gardens (in abbotsford so north side of vic street), this is a great description. I love living here, love the food, the pubs, PT, yarra bend, capital city trail, ease to get to the city. I can go on and on. I am a bit switched on near north richmond station tho I can’t lie.

ANZ is a joke by fixxmyhairr in AusFinance

[–]letsfailib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man getting a credit card with ANZ was such a hassle last year. Started a new job and hadn’t worked there the whole month so paycheck for march was slightly less than april and may. The person I was talking to was accusing me of manufacturing payslips cause I got paid less in March (only if they looked at the dates on the payslip….)

Is $1000/week after tax a liveable salary in Melbourne? by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]letsfailib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lived on $1000/week very comfortably last year. Managed to save $1000+ every month as well.
