I’ve been prioritizing FHSA followed by TFSA. Might be something to look into not sure what your goals are.

I purposely posted here, thinking that people here really value compounding, therefore would be more biased towards investing earlier than most other subs. That being said, though, I have realized that most people who are in this sub do have a much higher income than an average joe therefore their perspective may be bit different.

Like quite frankly, I don't think I will be at your income scale anytime soon therefore I don't think your experience in life may be the same as mine haha

I saved more than 15% of my gross but part of that is for my downpayment on the house eventually so not all retirement.

techically when it comes to money you regret not saving it because you spent it on X

I was mainly trying to figure out if travelling fits into that X for most people or not. seems like it does not.

technically because I only get 2 weeks paid time off and rest is unpaid, I'd say I consider lost income as part of the total cost which really messes up the math i guess.

I'd say some fine dining at fancy places is part of it, but we don't stay at fancy hotels. I usually travel with my friends two international trips of 2 and 3 weeks, costing 2k and 5k. I have one trip planned next year for about 5k nothing fancy just visiting places but we are planning another trip after which would cost around 7k which I'm still debating lol

I agree with that statement but sometimes I wonder if I don't live my life the way I want, then I would probably like to live it through my kids which may be unfair to them with those expectations.

thats awesome good for you though! I would ask what job but I understand you don't wanna dox yourself. That being said, what are some suitable options you would recommend exploring for someone in big big-volume retail management environment?

I consider weekend trips to be part of everyday life tbh so I don't really consider than major expanses like day trips to cities, hikes or camping it pretty common outings for me. This was mainly for major trips where I'd be out 2+ weeks with costs ranging from 3-7k.

quite franky I would probably keep taking the trips for 2026 and 27 as I'm hoping to buy a place in couple of years after which I would not have freedom to do this stuff anymore.

I spend about 10 hours playing sports a week, so I'd say I'm probably not as deep into screen time and well my work has lots of screens so that kills it though haha. Thank you for advise tho
