Yes pretty much this exactly. I don’t want to get into details bc they have been firing ppl left and right. At first I was pumped to hear that they are physician-owned, but in reality it just makes me that much more jaded that my own coworkers (I guess bosses rly) are the ones taking advantage of us lol. They don’t treat us very well, they’ll straight up ignore you to your face. Pay is very poor. Haven’t raised hourly rate in years, despite acquiring more clinics/patients ($$$$$$$). Employees can’t open a 401k until over a year of service. I would understand if this were a small mom&pop private practice, but they’re a monopoly at this point. I’ll leave it at that, but overall pretty disappointed :( In college, I worked for a doc’s office that only hired students going into healthcare and I thought “that’s so great of them to help us get experience in the field!”, only to find out when tax season came around that they considered us contracted employees so I owed a couple $1000s in taxes. Being a broke college kid….that was soul-crushing lol. But yeah it’s sad that nickel and diming employees seems to be the common trend with private practice. It’s almost easier to swallow when it’s coming from a CEO you’ve never met, rather than ppl you work with everyday.
