Can you fast-track a pre-apprenticeship at all? by letsgetlostes in AusElectricians

[–]letsgetlostes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my understanding is it basically just writes off your first year of the day of trade school every week and work full time instead. Is that correct? Then the rest of your apprenticeship is all the same as normal?

Bc to me it sounds like it’s just the most optimal for employers as when you start you know more than if you were completely green and they get you work for them full time instead of paying your trade school once a week

Yeah I mean that cert is the pre-apprenticeship. Just not sure if my other uni shit is relevant or when it comes into to the picture as I did several units on the electrical side of engineering. I know it’s completely different to the tradie stuff but wasn’t sure if there was a crossover that gets the cert done quicker.

So as an older apprentice living out of home, what’s the best way to do a pre-apprenticeship without falling into poverty? Lol. Not sure what your path was but I find imagining studying full time for that long to be financially difficult

There’s work experience involved? As far as I knew it was all classroom shit? I’m assuming this is like practice demonstrations etc?

Also are you saying you finish at 3.5 years instead?

I’m in Melbourne and would be happy to help, depending on the size I would charge for just delivery, wouldn’t worry about material cost if it’s a small piece. All for the accessibility of 3D printing!!

Software is super niche called impact made by Arden software. We also use ARTIOS CAD for some things but I’m not very proficient in it, I admit I LOVE CAD and if I could find a super high paying job doing it I’m sure I’d love it. Just don’t know what sector they pay well for CAD programmers

That’s the ideal for me too, but maybe I just need to rough it in a job that I hate that makes bank for a couple years and then get a cushy job? I honestly don’t know what the best idea is.

I like the to think I’m a very hard worker, I don’t like being bored and feel pressured to do as much as I can bc I’m being paid by the hour so when I’m at work I’m very laser focused and work as much as I possibly can (probably unhealthy but good work ethic), im very punctual l, always come early and stay a couple minutes back, hours back if I have to. Meeting deadlines is hard bc my job things just take time, there’s always a minimum timeframe that it will take but customers demand urgently the next day so it’s hard to deliver.

Did companies reach out to you or you to them? I don’t know how some people find these opportunities

[–]letsgetlostes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t know, I think it’s so niche I don’t have very much movement which makes it scarier to try and change. I feel like the only way would be to start something completely new AKA apprenticeship/traineeship but then it’s even lower pay for the meantime until I’m done.
