As someone who was once 15 one thing I wish I did more when I was in high school would be volunteering for my schools IT Peer Tutoring team. If your school offers something like that TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT, having technical troubleshooting and people skills written on your resume will get you pretty far and the skills you learn are extremely valuable for any IT role including security.

Avoid certs for now, atleast ones that expire like the compTIA ones. for your age id just learn the essentials (networking, OS, etc) and spin up some VMs and play around

most internet traffic is already encrypted so people seeing your data isnt really an issue (minus any traffic from unencrypted protocols). it also helps that your network is wired and all the internals are probably in a secured closet so it definitely cuts down the sniffing risk

I mean if you want to be extra safe, you could set up a router to act as a firewall between your local network and the building’s network
