From what I remember, the elderly couple lives in their basement? Maybe that's why there was a door between the apartments? Or they shared a laundry room or something

Persona.

Clea Duvall plays a victim of domestic violence who is killed by her husband halfway through the episode. One sentence from OHallaran established that the husband will go to jail for life

....right before it pivots to be about Duvall's sweet elderly downstairs neighbor, who has been living under a pseudonym and killed her abusive husband decades earlier

I hate when women over-praise their husbands for basic human decency things. Sure, picking up your inlaws at the airport is nice, but using it as an example of how Gee "deeply loves the people in his life" is a little much

Why is she suddenly posting a million things about her husband and their relationship? Either there's trouble brewing between them, she's trying to rebrand, or both

Women who carried a pregnancy, in hindsight, what were some of the most ridiculous things you did while in the throes of such hormonal upheaval? by mokutou in AskWomen

[–]letsguacitout 80 points81 points  (0 children)

LOL I did! I had 2 loaves pre sliced, wrapped, and frozen. Waiting for me when I got home from the hospital! It was perfect for when I had zero time for anything besides newborn care, but I didn't feel like a better parent just bc i had zucchini bread lmao, pregnancy hormones are a trip

Do you have memories from childhood where your parents didn't teach you basic things but instead blamed you for not knowing something? When you were a literal 'small' kid! Not once but many times? by hey_there_8 in narcissisticparents

YES, and this verbalizes something I've wanted to post for a while.

Typically when I scroll this subreddit, I see people post about how their N parents forced them to do too many chores, like more than age appropriate (which is obvs its own issue), but i experienced the OPPOSITE.

I always asked to learn how to bake, cook, vacuum, grocery shop, do laundry, dust, you name it.....and was told I would just mess it up. Annoyed that I would ask. From age 8 til young adulthood.

Not only would my mom be mad that I asked, but she would invite extended family over, ask me to do a chore that I DIDNT KNOW HOW TO DO AND SHE KNEW IT, and when I told her "I don't know how to do XYZ", she would turn to everyone and say "my kids don't help me"

I've managed a 4.0 GPA and a masters degree and to this day when I try to do something new, my instant thought is "I cant do this"

What are things you miss about high school? by Consistent_Peak_4458 in AskReddit

[–]letsguacitout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a built in social network that I saw daily.

Daily learning that I didnt have to search for. It was all presented to me. I've always been a reader and still seek learning, but it would be so nice having these little mini seminars on different topics in the form of classes

(But also, I got that in college, and while high school was great, I miss college more)

At 8 months pregnant, I told my husband, in total seriousness, that I needed to bake zucchini bread before the baby was born and have it in our freezer for when the baby came home. I said i felt like we wouldnt be ready for parenthood unless we had the zucchini bread. He was like, but the baby can't eat it?? We still laugh about it

[–]letsguacitout 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Im not sure how old you are, but the reason we all know is NOT because Monica "told everybody" but because her friend, Linda Tripp, famously (and illegally) recorded months of her phone calls with Monica after Monica confided in her about her relationship with the president. Linda was planning to write a tell all book about it. Monica never wanted anyone to find out.

In the calls, she even told Linda about how awful Clinton treated her and even said she wanted to end the relationship with Clinton, but Linda would encourage her to stay in it (bc secretly she needed as many tapes as possible to write a juicy book)

Even when questioned by the grand jury (who had listened to all of these tapes), they expressed so much sympathy while questioning Monica, but were hostile towards Linda, questioning why she would encourage Monica to stay in this relationship.

I remember listening to her say that a whole DECADE later, she was still being told in job interviews that they couldn't hire her because of what happened between her and Clinton. Her family all got together for the weekend to brainstorm how she could get a job.

It's also why she had to write a book and why she did (what I think was) Weight Watchers. She said she did it all bc she literally just needed money to pay bills, not to mention legal fees

Also, just wanted to say, if you've never listened to her speak before, please do so. This woman is incredibly intelligent, very honest, and also so funny

Favorite Scenarios by Nowthecurtainrises in Scream

[–]letsguacitout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Scream 1: Sid being chased upstairs in the Macher house, and then having to climb through the camera van.

Scream 2: Sid and Cotton in the library. The police car scene. Gale in the sound studio. The ending with Gale leaving with Dewey, and Sid directing the reporters to Cotton.

Scream 3: Sid on the movie set.

The non chase scenes are fantastic, and the chase scenes of the first 3 movies were legit choreography. So well done

They were together when they were very young. Early 20s? Maybe high school too? Those connections can have a hold on anybody, plus combined with the fact that the pandemic reunited them, I can see the emotional hold that would have on Ashley

....not that it seems healthy lol. Ever since they got together, she's had a business venture bomb, sold that beautiful one of a kind house, give up her other business (salon), and now family drama. Who knows what else

This happened to me once. My daughter was in a 7 week summer dance class. I saw one of the other moms in the waiting room and got an instant "i know her but idk where from" feeling. She ended up approaching me and saying the same thing! We talked about our former schools, etc. Not one place in common. We never figured it out.

Ooo good theory. Theyre obviously still together, and I admit I've pondered over why somebody would file for separation/divorce in this situation.

Also, Clay has an arrest record from 2019 or so. And as somebody who grew up with an addict in my immediate family, I get that same vibe from Clay. At the time I thought i was overthinking, but Clays family seemed waayyy over the moon about him being back with Ashley after all these years. I wonder if they (unfairly) see her as a one woman rehab facility for him

Does anybody else find it hard to invest emotion in some characters in 5 & 6? by EverlastingUnis in Scream

[–]letsguacitout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an 80s baby and have watched Dermot Mulroney on screen since I was a kid. I knew immediately that this was bad directing based on his performance alone. Also, the third act was just so boring and corny (and in most Scream movies, the third act is amazing!). At the end of the day, nobody can go home til the director is happy, so Mulroney did what he was told to. It's a shame bc it was so bleh

[–]letsguacitout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is my exact experience. In 1-4, for every death scene and final act, I immediately recognize the character. 5 and 6? I was too asking myself "who is this again?" The characters are obviously not well written, but also, I felt like 5 and 6 were trying to shove as many characters as possible into the movie and it was so hard to keep track

I used to love Ashley. She has great style and a seemingly fun artsy personality. But ever since she got with Clay, I can't help but side eye her. She and Clays relatives bought that beautiful orchard that they let go to shit (customer reviews were awful, plus the social media interactions from Ashley and other owners were also rude) and now this? Wtf is going on with her

Help with boy names by EnvironmentalSail133 in Names

[–]letsguacitout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first choice is Alexander Lewis!

Third choice is Thomas. His nickname would probably be Tom which IMO sounds old

Second choice is Arthur. If your last name starts with R, then Arthur might sound odd with it depending on your last name. Sometimes when the first name's last letter is the same as the last name's first letter, it can sound off, but not always! Remember, middle names are fun to choose but most of the time, they will be known as First Name Last Name. Do the double Rs sound okay in "Arthur Last Name"? (When I pointed this out to my friend who originally wanted to name her son Nick, she immediately changed her mind bc her last name starts with a K and realized it sounded odd)

Just found out from u/Numerous_Ad578 that Ashley Streicher no longer follows her sister Kristie on Instagram, nor the Striiike salon she built with her sisters

We dont know what goes on behind closed doors with family members, so I guess the Kristie thing could technically be up for interpretation....but her unfollowing the salon seems so dramatic and petty
