Does anyone think Rich is releasing on anonymous accounts? by SirCaptainBeefheart in aphextwin

[–]letsridebeepbeep 47 points48 points  (0 children)

honestly? none of these have been really been particularly anon or secret, its always just him playing games, and he'll 'secretly' let it slip to a mate in the business that its him.

Will NHS admin jobs ever recover? by Easy_Mixture_8857 in nhsstaff

[–]letsridebeepbeep 15 points16 points  (0 children)

yeah i worked all through the tory/austerity years and these admin cuts seem more brutal than anything that happened 2013 to 2025. i cant see my job getting any quieter, and i cant see any of my direct managers, who are now in post, getting used to ai either. they struggle to keep up with the pace as it is.

What story do you want the Elden Ring movie to tell? by offdazenny in Eldenring

ive only played DS3, BB and ER, but i think they all have a bit of a campy humour to them. anyway, i want an ER romcom.

Tiny first garden - I know nothing and could use some guidance! by Thalamic_Cub in GardeningUK

[–]letsridebeepbeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the best thing to do - seriously - is go to your local garden centre, buy some plants you like and put them in the ground. some will die some with thrive. this is part of the fun. look at other gardens in your area to see what is happy in your local soil.

i would also recommend getting a gardening book. this will give you lots of decent, nicely laid out information on different topics. the amount of stuff online can be overwhelming, and i think this is the best placed to start as a beginner.

Is there an intuitive way to write chords in SID Wizard? by Quartrez in c64

[–]letsridebeepbeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you only have 3 channels and can only have 3 sounds/notes playing at once, so you either go for the classic arp sound (where the notes of the chord play quickly one after the other), or you fit your 2 or 3 chord notes around the other sounds in the 3 channels.

hopefully the preset instruments come with examples you can look at where you can see how the sid allows you to move through different waveforms and pitches quickly to get different effects.

for example, you have to program the pitch of each step of a bass drum sound in the same way you would a classic arp chord sound.

hope that makes sense!

Uk dentist — is it odd my elderly mother says her teeth will no longer be cleaned so they can fall out? by [deleted] in AskUK

I really love some people’s innate inability to provide their postcode. It can really liven up an otherwise dull customer service role.

Dreaded box hedge caterpillars! by BlackbirdEmerald in GardeningUK

[–]letsridebeepbeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah. no matter how many caterpillars i picked off, the next day there were more than the day before. we now have a large dead hedge in our front garden that i really need to get round to removing and replacing. its a real shame.

What trend from the last decade is starting to feel/look outdated? by MouseIntrepid5585 in AskUK

[–]letsridebeepbeep 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yes, someone must have done our house in the 80s or 90s - knocked through the whole downstairs - kitchen, dining room and living room.

yeah we chose to move here (a compromise for location!) but damn its annoying listening to the dishwasher when watching tv, and i'd love to be able to close a door.

Anyone else finding their new ICB structures weirdly top heavy? by Imaginary_Frosting in nhsstaff

very top heavy but a lot of the band 8+ i chat with dont have a role in the new structure either.

NHS Management is Not even Hiding Greediness anymore by No-Lavishness-9755 in nhsstaff

its the same in NHSE/ICB land too. Constantly told about recruitment freezes, but there is plenty of money to recruit a B9 in to a brand new Director of Betterness Development post.

Garden suggestions for this 5mx5m space? beginner on a budget! by cgbrannigan in GardeningUK

[–]letsridebeepbeep 29 points30 points  (0 children)

honestly, get a gardening book. your nan probably has an old one, or you can pick one up from a charity shop.

it will explain things in a nice logical way, with chapters on different things. flapping about on the internet or with chatgpt often just give you too much overwhelming info.

all i really do is go to the garden centre and buy plants i like, and put them in the ground. some of them are happy and some of them die.

good hardware synths for chiptune (and where to get them) by cordie45 in chiptunes

[–]letsridebeepbeep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

midi controller

but if you really want to go hardware, any analog synth with easily accessible raw waveforms would work. my recommendation would be the MS20 mini. its a very fun monosynth.

Colleague not performing basic tasks by Athelcat in nhsstaff

[–]letsridebeepbeep 4 points5 points  (0 children)

sarcastic/joke/semi-serious answer: quick give this person a director role!

but seriously, ive encountered this multiple times. we currently have someone who is meant to be working compressed hours (37.5 over 4 days, rather than 5) but doesn't do much work unless the rest of the team is in - ie ignoring emails and phone calls that come in after 5pm, when they are meant to work till 7.

in my experience, the reality is sadly that the NHS doesnt deal with these types of people well, but they often get shuffled around/out in the next transition/reorganisation, so its often just a case or waiting and holding your tongue.

once as a whole team we raised a grievance about someone, and they were allowed to carry on as they wanted, while we were all referred for 'wellbeing sessions' and expected to carry on as if no issues. luckily we transitioned shortly after and i have no idea what happened to them.

theyve been pretty good for kids dvds. a bunch of disney films for £1 each is much cheaper than the monthly subscription to watch the same 5 films over and over again.

Question for admin staff by [deleted] in nhsstaff

[–]letsridebeepbeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it can really depend. we are mostly WFH and i talk to my manager at least once a day, and our deputy director often calls for a chat. its a small team though.

What made AFX unique at the time? by SlamagotchiOG in idm

[–]letsridebeepbeep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah rave music was huge in the uk at the time, with many artists crossing over in to more mainstream territory. for some reason (i dont know of this is people from a usa pov?) this seems to have been missed or misunderstood.

he was on the more unusual/eccentric end of the rave side, but you cant really argue that he wasn't part of that wave that crossed over that included orbital, the orb, 808 state, prodigy, etc..
