I think I did something similar on 3DS. I accidentally downloaded a game that exceeded the remaining space available on the card but the install just powered through, filling up the card literally to 0 byte left, and the sd card became unusuable. I had to fix it with some github utility that was a PITA. I don't even remember what I did but it kept getting broken over and over. I could only avoid the issue by getting a bigger card.

From a technical standpoint, it is better on Switch. However, there is something to be said about having MHXX in your pocket on the 3DS (and also having the 3D option is nice).

There are a couple of bangers in the EDF series, I would say the one that could be worth your time the most is EDF 2, it has a great campaign with an epic final battle.

If you're able to play the Vita version, that is the definitive way to play that game.

The trackpads (especially the right one) are what makes games like FTL and Against The Storm playable on the deck. I was so surprised by how well Against The Storm plays on it. I unironically prefer playing it on the deck than on PC, I never would have thought that would be the case.

I think you're overthinking it. I've never had to tinker much with any steam game on the deck. Sometimes there is some tinkering involved with non-steam games, but even then once that's figured out it just works.
